Update
Increased mean layer moisture this morning as seen in 12z
sounding with light steering flow. Current radar imagery showing
scattered coastal showers and isolated thunderstorms before
the sea breeze develops. Expect another warm and humid
august day with increased coverage of diurnal and boundary
interaction thunderstorms this afternoon into the evening
hours with best chances around i-75 corridor and inland
areas. Latest grids and forecasts on track.

Aviation
Continue to expectVFR conditions most areas today outside
of convection where experience brief localized MVFR ifr
cigs vsbys from around 18z-00z.

Prev discussion issued 345 am edt Sun aug 19 2018
short term (today - Monday)...

after an usually dry august day for much of the area yesterday, a
more typical pattern will resume today as moisture surges back into
the area from the south. Pw values return to the 1.5-2.0 range this
afternoon and this combined with the presence of the gulf and
atlantic sea breezes should allow for sct coverage of afternoon
storms across interior portions of the forecast area. Rain chances
likely a touch lower near the immediate gulf coast but still isolated
to scattered in nature. Surface ridge placement will keep a similar
pattern in place for Monday. Temperatures will top out around
seasonal norms in the lower 90s.

Long term (Monday night - Sunday)...

strong high pressure near bermuda will continue to influence the
weather keeping an east through southeast wind flow across florida
through the middle of next week. This pattern will favor shower storm
development along the east coast of florida earlier in the afternoon
and then progressing westward through late afternoon and into the
evening hours. By late Tuesday next week, a stronger upper trough
approaches the region from the northwest and will suppress the upper
ridge to the south near the bahamas through the end of next week.

This will result in a wind shift change to the south-southwest which
will result in showers storms developing earlier in the day and
moving from west to east. Warm and humid conditions will continue
through the period. Daytime high temps in the low 90s with heat
indices between 100 and 105 degrees can be expected daily.

Marine...

western atlantic high pressure stretches across florida and out over
the gulf of mexico through the weekend with an axis meandering
across central florida that then drops down over south florida
during early next. The pressure gradient remains relaxed with the
main concern being locally higher winds and seas near showers and
thunderstorms.

Fire weather...

ample moisture will be in place through the period keeping fire
weather concerns low.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
