Synopsis..A strong ridge of high pressure north of the waters will result in mainly easterly winds with weak sea breezes near the coast through Thursday. Discussion (today - Wednesday)
Not much has changed since yesterday. Models continue to
show deep-layered ridging settling over the region and
dominating our weather for the next 7 days.

The big story will be the heat. If the lower to middle 90's
haven't been enough for you, we could be looking at middle
to upper 90's for the memorial day weekend.

With strong high pressure still to our north, we probably
won't see much of a sea breeze today and Friday. Perhaps a
late day sea breeze on Friday right along the coast.

As the ridge of high pressure sinks south over the state,
our enhanced easterly flow will relax and allow sea breezes
to develop and penetrate farther inland each day during the
long weekend. This will provide some relief from the heat at
the beaches, but it will still be very warm.

The month of may is typically a dry month, and the next 7
days will be no exception. While a stray shower could pop up
along sea breeze boundaries here and there, the overall rain
chances through the next 7 days will be 10 percent or less.

Aviation
Vfr next 24 hours. Enhanced easterly flow should keep sea
breezes from reaching all terminals. An easterly surge will
bring gusty winds during the afternoon and evening hours.

Marine
We'll see two more days of easterly winds with enhanced
surges during the late afternoon and evening hours. Winds
will let up significantly for the memorial day weekend as
high pressure settles in over the state. Nighttime easterly
surges over the weekend will be weaker than those of the
next few nights, but could still briefly bring winds to near
15 knots as the surges pass through.

Headlines of exercise caution may be required tonight.

Fire weather
The main fire weather concern continues to be the hot and
dry conditions along with high dispersions. Minimum relative
humidities will run between 30 and 40 percent during the
hottest part of each afternoon. Red flag conditions are not
expected.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
