Discussion
Aloft - a broad low over the northern plains and the upper midwest
dampens out as it tracks across the great lakes tonight and into
quebec by late thu. A ridge anchored east of the bahamas and north of
hispaniola sprawls above much of the gulf region. Surface - a warm
front exited north-central fl this morning as atlantic high
pressure began ridging east across the gulf... With an axis along
latitude 30 north.

A generally stable and warm air mass continues for the next couple
of days. The highs this afternoon are expected to come close to
record values for this date... See climate section below... And with
similar readings. Moisture is limited... Model pwat values run 1.2 to
1.4 inches... Which along with subsidence will keep rain chances
low at 20 to no more than 40 percent. Scattered showers have been
drifting over inland areas early this afternoon and will continue
through the evening. Theses showers return for thu.

During Fri through next Wed - a long wave trough from central canada
to northern baja california swings northeast as it forms into a
closed low over the mid-mississippi valley that exits to the canadian
maritimes by the middle of next week. This will shift the ridge over
the gulf from the bahamas southward. Meanwhile at the surface...

high pressure initially across the gulf and fl slips off to the east
as canadian high pressure settles into the central u.S. Late in the
weekend then shifts to the eastern seaboard wed. The canadian high
propels a cold front into north or northeast fl late Sun that stalls
for the early portion of next week. Warm conditions with isolated to
scattered showers continue into the weekend. Then the front will
bring increasing clouds and rain chances for late Sun and early next
week. While the front is expected to initially stall it S behavior
is not entirely certain... Impacting the forecast.

Aviation
20 18z TAF cycle. PrevailingVFR with ocnl bkn 4-6k ft clouds.

Clouds begin clearing aft 01-02z with some low st aft 08z. For now
have opted to keep just few-sct in the tafs. And have added
limited br at fog favoring lal and pgd. Main TAF period ends with
bkn035-050. Gusty s-se winds diminish then slowly back over night.

Marine
High pressure across the waters will keep winds and seas benign into
the weekend. Then a cold front moving in late Sun could bring
increasing and shifting winds along with higher seas for early in
the week.

Fire weather
Adequate moisture going into the weekend will preclude any low rh
concerns and will support some showers and late night fog. Locally
robust winds Thu will result in high dispersions. A front late
sun will provide additional moisture with increasing rain chances
and clouds.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
