Deteriorating marine conditions expected late tonight
through Thursday...

Discussion (today - Monday)
A short-wave trough moving off the southeast u.S. Coast will
help to push a cold front south through the forecast area
later today. Limited moisture accompanying this front should
support a dry frontal passage with just a wind shift into
the west northwest expected. Little change in temperatures
are expected today with highs climbing into the upper 70s to
around 80 along the coast, and lower 80s inland.

Tonight into Wednesday a stronger short wave trough closed
upper level low will sweep southeast across the north-central
florida peninsula. Better moisture and lift accompanying
this system will support scattered to numerous showers (pops
30 to 60 percent) from the tampa bay area north into the
nature coast, with mainly dry conditions continuing further
to the south and west. Similar to yesterday models continue
to show surface low pressure developing offshore the florida
east coast on Wednesday in association with the short-wave
with this low then meandering offshore through early Thursday.

A tightening pressure gradient (7-8mb) between this low and
strong high pressure to the north will result in a breezy to
windy northeasterly wind wind flow developing across the
forecast area and the adjacent gulf coastal waters which
will continue through Thursday. Cooler temperatures are
expected during Wednesday and Wednesday night with highs on
Wednesday in the upper 60s north, and lower to mid 70s
central and south, with lows Wednesday night in the upper
40s to around 50 across the nature coast, lower to mid 50s
central zones, and upper 50s across southwest florida.

During Wednesday night into Thursday rain chances will end
as the deeper moisture associated with the upper trough surface
low shifts east into the atlantic and drier air filters in
from the west. Pleasant dry weather along with diminishing
winds and moderating temperatures can be expected on Friday
and continuing into the weekend as high pressure settles in
over the area. Now during Sunday night into Monday high
pressure will shift east as the next short wave trough and
cold front approaches from the west with increasing clouds
and rain chances (pops 40 to 50 percent) expected on Monday
as these features affect the area.

Aviation
Some ifr lifr CIGS will impact the northern terminals of
ktpa, kpie, ksrq, and klal through 12z this morning with
some MVFR vsbys from some shallow patchy fog also impacting
klal and kpgd, otherwiseVFR will prevail at all terminals
during the next 24 hours. West-northwest winds in the 4 to 6
knot range early this morning will increase to 10 to 12
knots after 16z, then becoming northwest to north at 6 to 8
knots after 02z tonight.

Marine
A cold front will move south through the coastal waters
today and tonight with west to northwest winds expected
across the waters. Northwest to north winds tonight will
veer to the northeast overnight with speeds increasing into
the cautionary small craft range by early Wednesday morning
with wind and seas then remaining elevated with hazardous
boating conditions for small craft operators expected to
continue through early Thursday as the pressure gradient
tightens between developing low pressure offshore the
florida east coast and strong surface high pressure along
the eastern seaboard. Lighter northeast to east winds and
lower seas should return to the waters on Friday and into
the weekend as the gradient relaxes as surface high pressure
settles in over the area.

Fire weather
Increasing 20 foot winds and transport winds combined with
mixing height in the 3-4kft range will yield high dispersion
indices across the forecast area today through Thursday.

Humidity values are expected to remain above critical levels
with no red flag conditions expected. Some patchy fog will
be possible over central interior zones and across the
nature coast counties early this morning, but widespread
visibility restrictions are not expected.

Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
