Synopsis for the middle texas coastal waters.. A weak to occasionally moderate onshore flow will continue tonight through Saturday. A more moderate flow is expected by Sunday as low pressure deepens over the southern plains. The onshore flow will weaken Monday and Tuesday as a frontal boundary slowly dips southward into central texas. A few showers and Thunderstorms will be possible across the coastal waters during the middle of next week.

Discussion
Note aviation discussion below corresponding to the 00z tafs.

Aviation
Vfr this evening followed by a transition to MVFR
ceilings visibilities generally west of u.S. 77 and east of s.R.

16 overnight. Expect a subsequent transition to predominateVFR by
late morning and continuing to the end of the TAF period.

Weak moderate onshore flow this evening followed by light variable
wind overnight early Saturday. Expect moderate onshore flow to
develop Saturday afternoon.

Previous discussion issued 253 pm cdt Fri aug 17 2018
short term (tonight through Saturday night)...

dry air is in place over south texas today with the morning kcrp
sounding calculated pwat at 1.55 inch. Near surface moisture still
remains in place however, keeping humidity values up and heat
index between about 103 and 108 across the area. Will see a
continuation of similar conditions through the short term period.

Expect mild low temps tonight and the potential for some inland
fog in the band from alice to victoria as light surface and low
level winds work together with the shallow moist layer late in the
night. Should burn off any fog quickly on Saturday with a pleasant
but still hot day in store. Highs once again in the lower 90s east
to around 105 west. Heat index values once again around 102-106
during the afternoon. Fog chances do not look as good tomorrow
night as 925 winds are a bit higher.

Long term (Sunday through Friday)...

no significant changes to the long term forecast as summertime
pattern persists. Eastern edge of mid upper level ridge will remain
over south tx through the weekend maintaining hot and dry
conditions. A trough will move from the plains into the ohio valley
mon-tue pushing a weak frontal boundary into central texas. This
boundary will likely dissipate on Wednesday, however moisture
pooling ahead of this boundary will result in slight chance chance
of showers and thunderstorms, over the northeast coastal bend and
victoria crossroads area tue-thu. Stronger pressure gradient on
Sunday will relax mon-tue due to the approaching front and winds
will remain light through the end of the week. Temperatures will
remain slightly above normal through the period.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
