GMZ800 Synopsis For The Coastal Waters From Bonita Beach To Suwannee River- 848 Pm Est Mon Jan 22 2018
Synopsis..Southeast winds will shift to the south the rest of tonight ahead of an approaching cold front. Expect areas of showers and isolated Thunderstorms tonight into early Tuesday ahead of this boundary, with the greatest coverage expected from tampa bay northward. Winds will become north to northeast late Tuesday into Wednesday in the wake of the front, with speeds increasing to cautionary levels at times. Some areas of sea fog will be possible over the coastal waters through Tuesday and mariners should be ready for some reduced visibilities. Any lingering sea fog will get scoured out Tuesday afternoon and night as cooler and drier air moves into the region in the wake of the cold front.

Aviation (23 04z through 24 12z)
Showers moving over ktpa kpie and eventually ksrq overnight
will occasionally drop cig vis down into the MVFR ranges.

Further south... Rain chances will be much lower... Although
some patchy fog is possible late. The degree of clouds
suggests the mav may be a bit aggressive with fog at kpgd
and have not gone below a brief period of ifr vis.

Elsewhere... No less than MVFR is expected. Broad band of
MVFR CIGS and occasional showers should settle southward
across the region during Tuesday. Have gone with prevailing
MVFR much of the day for the i-4 corridor terminals... With a
later arrival during the afternoon for the terminals closer
to fort myers. Much of Tuesday night is lookingVFR for
tampa bay i-4 terminals well behind a front... However...

further south... Lingering moisture could still result in a
period of MVFR ifr visibility during the second half of the
overnight.

Prev discussion issued 933 pm est Mon jan 22 2018
update (rest of the overnight)...

favorable upper jet dynamics supporting supporting large
scale ascent through broad upper divergence associated with
a passing southern stream shortwave should continue to
support widespread showers rain embedded thunderstorms over
the NE gulf of mexico through at least the next several
hours... And likely through much of the remainder of the
overnight. Latest rap NAM suggest the best area of this
forcing will have exited east by late tonight... But it
will be a while still. With this in mind have ramped up rain
chances to basically 100% and also QPF values over the next
6-9 hours to the north of the i-4 corridor. Looks like a wet
overnight period for the northern half of our forecast
area... Basically anywhere north of the tampa bay area. The
tampa bay area i-4 corridor will be the transition zone
between the steadier showers and much more widely scattered
and lighter activity over the coming hours. Obviously this
makes this zone the least confident in terms of rainfall
potential. Have gone with a fairly tight pop gradient
through this region... But that is how things are shaping up
for a while. Eventually somewhat better rain chances will
arrive further south down the suncoast late tonight or
Tuesday morning... But by that time the upper forcing will be
leaving. Therefore, not expecting QPF values to be all that
high for our southern zones through frontal passage, even
though most spots will likely see at least a few passing
showers.

Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
