Update
Some more stratocumulus has moved into the parts of the region
overnight, but like yesterday these clouds should gradually thin
out later this morning then some high clouds will begin to
overspread the area this afternoon with mainly partly cloudy
across the entire area. Temperatures will be remain below normal
and slowly warm into the mid 60s to near 70 this afternoon.

Have tweaked the sky grids to show more clouds this morning, but
overall the current forecast is on track and will update zones to
showing skies becoming partly cloudy.

Aviation
Areas of MVFR ceilings will will break up later this morning with
vfr conditions prevailing this afternoon and tonight. Light
northerly winds will shift to northwest at 7 to 10 knots around
midday and then shift back to north and diminish this evening.

Marine... Light winds and seas will remain over the waters
through the middle part of the week, with no headlines expected.

The next complex storm system will move into the region Thursday
into the first part of the weekend, with showers and thunderstorms
expected along with hazardous winds and seas developing.

update...

quick update to add a risk for rip currents through today.

Conditions should be improving this afternoon and evening.

Prev discussion... Issued 302 am est Mon dec 17 2018
discussion...

a quasi-zonal flow is in place aloft over the region early this
morning with surface high pressure building in to our west. Some
relatively cooler and drier air will continue to filter into the
region through today, with highs topping out in the lower to mid
60s.

Benign conditions will be the rule through the middle part of the
week, with temperatures generally warming a few degrees each day.

Global models are still in agreement in showing the next
trough closed low dropping into the deep south Wednesday night into
Thursday. The surface reflection associated with this feature will
move through the southeast Thursday and Friday, trailing a cold
front through the region. Showers and thunderstorms will move over
the area starting Wednesday night and continuing through Thursday.

Similar to our last couple of fronts, a few stronger storms will be
possible. It appears as though there will be some residual moisture
Thursday night and Friday for a few light showers or sprinkles
still, but then mostly dry conditions can be expected for the
weekend along with another couple of pleasantly cool days.

Fire weather...

no fire weather concerns as relative humidity values will remain
above critical levels. Some patchy, shallow ground fog will be
possible in the typical fog-prone areas, but no widespread or
significant fog is anticipated over the next few days.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
