Marine Weather and Tides
Bayport, FL

Version 3.4
What's New / NOTES
5/20/2018 -- NOAA is having problems with the data feed that I use to draw the graphs. They are aware of the issue and working to resolve it. Sometimes changing the location by about a mile will give a correct graph. 3/3/2018 - There is a new GOES Satellite for the east coast that required rewriting that part of the code. Please report any issues.

Aviation
Vfr conditions will hold into the early morning hours. A few
isolated showers and storms are possible moving in from the coastal
waters beginning between 10-12z. This will continue through the
afternoon hours with some brief MVFR conditions and gusty winds
possible in passing thunderstorms. Otherwise, no other aviation
impacts are expected.

Prev discussion issued 803 pm edt Wed jul 18 2018
update...

under continued southwesterly flow and deep moisture, a very
similar day to yesterday developed today, with scattered
showers and thunderstorms streaming northeast off the gulf
and through the forecast area. The majority of these showers
have now dissipated although a few isolated cells remain,
and coastal areas could see a quick shower at pretty much
any time overnight. Similar to last night, rain coverage
will increase over the gulf waters after midnight, with
coastal areas seeing increasing rain chances from around 4
am through after sunrise.

Overall, the forecast looks on track, and no significant
changes were needed for the evening update.

Aviation...

mostlyVFR conditions will hold into the early morning
hours, although a few isolated showers are still moving
northeast and onshore from the gulf, which could cause brief
flight category restrictions overnight. The coverage of
showers moving off the gulf will increase between 08z and
12z. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will then also be
expected during the afternoon and early evening.

Marine...

high pressure will hold across the southern florida
peninsula and into the gulf of mexico through the next
several days, with west to southwest winds continuing. Wind
speeds will generally remain less than 15 knots, with seas
of no more than 3 feet, but deep moisture will help fuel
daily showers and thunderstorms, and the strongest storms
will be capable of producing locally higher winds and seas.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
