Synopsis for high island to matagorda ship channel out 60 nm.. Moderate to strong onshore winds will continue to transport warm moist air over the colder nearshore waters. This pattern will be favorable for the continued development of sea fog...which will likely persist at times until the next cold front pushes off the coast early Monday morning. Until the front, southerly winds will support caution conditions in the offshore waters. Behind the front on Monday, northerly winds will be gusty at times but not as strong as previous fronts.

Discussion
Khgx VWP has been showing 25-35kt winds just off the surface,
some of which has been partially mixing to the surface and has
kept the fog in check for most areas. Still seeing some patchy
dense sea fog around galveston bay which we'll continue to monitor
for a possible advisory.

Upper trough near the four corners will continue making its way
eastward today. Its associated surface prefrontal trough and front
itself will enter the state and become a focus for shra tstm
development later this afternoon (probably initiating around the
i-35 corridor). Locally, during the day, we'll probably just see
some isolated to scattered WAA streamer showers flowing northward
under the llvl jet. Hires guidance isn't all that impressed with
precip coverage and given lack of focusing mechanism I tend to
agree. Lowered pops a touch during the day across the SE 2 3 of
the area.

By late evening, expect the front and a thin band of showers and
embedded tstms to approach from the northwest and move thru SE tx
between roughly 9pm-4am. Better forcing and dynamics still look
to mostly remain N NE of the region toward the ARKLATEX and
expect the bulk of any strong to severe convection to be favored
there. Can't completely rule out a few stronger cells as far
south as polk trinity houston counties (with wind being the
primary issue). Further south and west, lack of instability and a
possible warm layer between 700-850mb should limit both precip
coverage and strength.

Dry seasonable wx can be expected for much of the week in the wake
of the front with the addition of reinforcing surface high
pressure filling in toward midweek. Rain chances will reenter the
forecast going into next weekend as the gulf opens back up in
advance of the next cold front late Saturday. 47

Marine
Sea fog and intermittent periods of showers will continue today, all
ahead of a cold front that is expected to move off the coast tonight
into early Monday morning. The slightly elevated winds seas over the
offshore waters will keep caution flags in place through this after-
noon.

Moderate to strong offshore winds developing in the wake of the cold
front Monday morning afternoon should prompt scec SCA flags for this
timeframe. As high pressure builds into the area. Conditions will be
improving by Monday night. Winds are then progged to the NE by tues,
then more E by weds thurs as the associated surface high slides over
the southern states. Caution flags may be needed across the offshore
waters throughout the week as the gradient remains a bit tighter for
these areas. Per long range models... The next cold front should move
into the coastal waters next weekend (late sat?). 41

Aviation
Will be continuing the messy MVFR ifr forecast for this afternoon as
the strong onshore flow pattern remains in place. The elevated winds
are playing havoc with fog forecasts inland, but the sea fog has re-
mained (and will remain) in place for gls this morning. At this time
not expecting a lot of change(s) with the current trend of MVFR cigs
for this afternoon evening. Will likely start FROPA at cll at around
09z... Then at the coast gls by 12 13z. 41
