prev discussion... Issued 327 am cdt Mon sep 25 2017
synopsis...

forecast area is on the periphery of a surface ridge located over
the eastern great lakes. This is providing a east to east-
southeast flow in the low levels that is allowing for elevated
seasonal temperatures and moisture. Surface dew points are in the
upper 60s to lower 70s. Meanwhile, the 25 06z upper air sounding
from klch shows precipitable water values over 1.6 inches and mean
rh over 70 percent. Upper air analysis and water vapor imagery
denotes a weak upper level circulation over the gulf south.

Local radar is showing a few nocturnal showers have formed over
the coastal waters in the moist summer-like air mass. However, as
it typical with these nocturnal showers, they dissipate as they
push onshore.

Rua
discussion...

above seasonal temperatures and elevated moisture values look to
hold over the next few days as low level flow will remain from the
east to east-southeast. The weakness aloft over the gulf south
states will help bring isolated to scattered convection during
mainly the afternoon hours today with daytime heating. The best
chance will be over eastern sections closer to the upper level
weakness... As well as... The i-10 corridor to the south with
seabreeze interaction.

The weakness aloft will gradually be replaced by an upper level
ridge and therefore, a decrease in the probability for the
afternoon convection will take place on Tuesday, with a further
decrease on Wednesday.

A weak cold front will make its way down into the forecast area on
Thursday as an upper level short wave drops down into the plains.

This initial cold front will be more of a wind shift line, and
bring slightly drier air. With upper level ridge in place and weak
low level convergence with the front, do not see much in the way
of convection with the frontal passage.

The upper level short wave will deepen into the end of the week,
and this will help push a reinforcing cold front across the
forecast area late Friday, with more of a drier continental air
mass that will bring slightly cooler and less humid conditions
into the weekend.

coastal waters are on the periphery of a surface high located over
the eastern great lakes. This will bring mainly light to modest
easterly winds today. The high will weaken by Tuesday with mainly
a weak pressure gradient over the coastal waters through mid-week
with light winds and low seas the result.

A weak cold front will move through the coastal waters on Thursday
with light offshore flow developing. A reinforcing cold front will
move through the coastal waters late Friday. This will bring a
cooler air mass across the coastal waters allowing for an
increasing and elevated offshore flow into Saturday. There will be
a chance for small craft exercise caution or small craft advisory
conditions for portions of the coastal waters late Friday into
Saturday night.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
