Discussion
19 12z TAF issuance.

Aviation
Vfr conditions prevail this morning. Inserted vc mention at
southern TAF sites this morning with a few shra tsra possible as
activity develops over the coastal parishes county and moves
northeast. Expect convection to become a little more sctd during
the day, with the best potential during the aftn hours.

Showers storms will vary from isolated near bpt lch aex to more
sctd at lft ara where tempo groups have been included. Expect
convection to diminish around sunset, withVFR conditions to
continue overnight into Monday morning. South to southwest winds
5-10 kt can be expected, with winds becoming light during the
evening.

synopsis...

the weather map still shows a surface high off the florida coast
over the western atlantic that ridges westward along the gulf
coast and into the forecast area. This is keeping a southerly low
level flow and a moist and humid air mass over the forecast area.

Dew points as of 19 09z or 4 am, are in the mid to upper 70s.

Latest moisture plots show precipitable water values around 2
inches with mean relative humidity values from the surface to 50h
running between 65 and 75 percent. Upper air analysis from 19 00z
shows a more profound weakness aloft with height falls noted at
klch. With the moist air mass and weakness aloft, a decent amount
of nocturnal showers are dotting the coastal waters.

Meanwhile, water vapor imagery shows an upper level low and trough
moving eastward out of the upper rocky mountains into the northern
plains.

Rua
discussion...

decent rain chances will be noted today, mainly east of the
sabine, as daytime heating will initiate shower and storm activity
in the moist and unstable air mass. Away from convection, muggy
conditions will lead to MAX afternoon heat index values between
102f and 106f degrees.

The upper level system over the upper rockies will push eastward
across the plains and into the midwest over the next couple of
days, helping to deepen east coast trough and push a surface
"cold" front toward the forecast area by Tuesday. Upper level
support moves quickly off to the east, however, the deepening
northwest flow aloft, should help push the cold front down to the
coast by Wednesday morning.

Frontal lift interacting with a very moist airmass, precipitable
water values remain between 2 and 2.1 inches, should allow
numerous showers and a few thunderstorms, with relatively high
rain chances from Monday into Tuesday. Strongest winds and upper
level support stay to the north keeping shear values and lapse
rates in check, so severe weather potential is expected to be less
than marginal. Still, could be some high instability as the front
moves across, so a few strong storms with frequent cloud to
ground lightning, gusty winds, and heavy down pours may occur.

With consensus becoming more that the front will make it through
the forecast area by Wednesday, then stalling and washing out over
the coastal waters by Thursday, some drier air is likely to filter
down into the forecast area. This will lower rain chances and make
for less humid conditions. Projected MAX afternoon heat index
values for Wednesday through Friday look to stay below 100f
degrees.

Rua
marine...

surface high off of florida will continue to ridge across the
northern gulf of mexico and into the forecast area through Monday.

Meanwhile, a surface low is expected to develop over the plains
along a frontal boundary. Interaction between the systems will
allow for light to occasionally moderate southerly winds over the
coastal waters. A moist air mass will also allow for scattered
showers and a few thunderstorms over the coastal waters.

A front will approach the coastal waters on Tuesday, then
gradually move into the coastal waters by Wednesday morning. Light
south winds are expected ahead of the front, with brief light
offshore flow expected behind the front on Wednesday into
Thursday. Numerous showers and a few thunderstorms will be
possible ahead of the frontal system. Drier air is expected to
help decrease shower activity over the coastal waters by Thursday.
