Discussion
Wx map shows weak high pressure over the region, with light and
variable winds this morning. Clear skies per visible satellite
imagery. Expecting mostly sunny to partly cloudy by the afternoon
hours should allow temperatures to rise in the lower to mid 80s
across the region. Ongoing forecast on track with no updates
needed.

Next front to arrive later this evening into early Thursday
morning bringing the next chance of showers and isolated
thunderstorms.

few changes made to previous forecast package other than to
contend with short term fog at kbpt and klch. Vsbys have already
improved at kbpt and expect that klch will follow suit over the
next hour or so.VFR will prevail thereafter through the
afternoon, with MVFR CIGS and showers possible in conjunction
with a FROPA expected tonight. Kept vcsh at the i-10 terminals
and maintained the prob group for kaex, though did massage the
timing a bit based on latest guidance.

synopsis...

latest ua analysis and WV imagery depicts a couple of shortwave
troughs lows, one over the central appalachian region and the
other upstream acrs western nebraska. The region remains within
northwesterly flow aloft between these two features.

At the sfc, high pres was centered over the northwest gulf with a
cold front situated northwest of the area, extending from central
mo acrs ok into western tx. The only activity associated with the
front was occurring acrs northwest tx where a small cluster of
storms has been ongoing for much of the night. Otherwise, skies
are mostly clear acrs southwest central la and southeast tx, with
temperatures ranging from the middle 50s to lower 60s.

24
discussion...

another dry and warm day is expected today, with cloud cover
expected to increase late this aftn into the evening as the cold
front approaches from the northwest, in advance of the progressive
shortwave trough over the central high plains. Aftn highs today
will be comparable to yesterday, with MAX temps near 80 degrees.

Moisture return appears adequate for the development of sctd to
nmrs showers this evening and overnight. Model guidance continues
to indicate precip water values between 1.35 and 1.50 inches,
which is between the 75th and 90th percentile for this time of
year. Meanwhile, instability will be fairly modest, with mucape
values between 300-800 j kg, but combined with divergence aloft
and favorable jet dynamics as the region comes under the influence
of the right entrance region, conditions should support the
development of a few isolated to widely sctd tstms. Storms are not
expected to become severe. Due to the rather quick passage of the
shortwave, rain amounts are also expected to stay on the low side
with totals around one quarter of an inch or less.

Dry weather will return briefly during the day Thursday before a
second shortwave swings southeast on Friday. Temperatures will be
slightly cooler but remain mild on Thursday with highs into the
70s. The secondary shortwave on Friday will bring a reinforcing
front through the region, which will maintain the slightly cooler
temperatures through Saturday. Moisture return ahead of this
system will be limited, but could be sufficient for some isolated
to widely sctd showers mainly acrs central or south central la
during the day Friday.

High pres will settle over the region in the wake of Friday's
front, bringing dry and rather pleasant conditions for the
weekend. Overnight lows Saturday and Sunday mornings will be in
the 50s, with highs in the middle 70s Saturday and around 80 by
Sunday.

Low level winds will become more southeasterly by Monday as sfc
high pres slides east, prompting the return of warmer and more
humid conditions early in the week. Aloft, a trough will enter the
western states, resulting in a transition to southwesterly flow
aloft. Increased low level moisture advection combined with the
possibility of weak impulses traveling over the region will lead
to a slt chc for showers Monday, with a daily chc for showers and
tstms expected through at least midweek.

a ridge of high pressure will move east of the area today with a
mainly light onshore flow developing. A cold front is expected to
move across the coastal waters late tonight into early Thursday.

A brief period of elevated offshore flow is expected behind the
front, possibly producing exercise caution conditions for a few
hours late tonight into early Thursday morning. Winds will
diminish during the day Thursday, with a light to moderate
offshore flow expected into the weekend.
