area forecast discussion
national weather service jacksonville fl
319 am edt Sat may 27 2017

Near term through tonight
A mid upper ridge will build in across the area with a surface ridge
across south fl. This will bring hot and dry conditions to the area
with a light southwest flow. Temps reaching the lower to mid 90s
most areas away from the coast. Afternoon seabreeze keeping coastal
areas in the mid upper 80s. Low level moisture begins to advect in
from the gulf tonight which results in patchy late night and early
morning fog especially near the i-75 corridor of NE fl.

Short term Sunday-Monday
High pressure over the eastern gulf of mexico will dominate the
pattern on Sunday with slightly above normal temps especially across
interior areas. An upper level short wave trough will begin to dig
into the central mississippi river valley. On Monday the upper ridge
remains well entrenched across the florida portion of the area but
the digging trough erodes the northwest periphery of the ridge over
georgia and we could see a few showers over the altamaha river
counties..

Long term Monday night thru Friday
Early in the week the area remains between the upper level ridge
over florida and the atlantic and the large upper tough over the
great lakes. This should allow some gulf moisture to sneak over the
area with 30 to 40 percent afternoon and evening pops. Temperatures
will be in the lower to mid 90s across the interior and in the upper
80s along the coast. By Thursday and Friday the ridge pushes
offshore with a quasi-stationary frontal system lying east-west near
the florida-georgia state line. This will increase the rain chances
for late in the week. With increased moisture, temperatures will top
out near 90 inland and in the mid 80s along the coast.

Aviation PrevailingVFR.

Marine A surface ridge south of the waters will produce a
southwest flow the next few days with afternoon seabreezes near
shore in the afternoon and early evenings. Slightly stronger winds
in the early evening but below headline criteria. A frontal boundary
will wash out across the waters towards mid week producing variable
winds with afternoon and evening seabreezes.

Rip currents: low risk through Sunday.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
