Marine Weather and Tides
Fernandina Beach, FL

Version 3.4
What's New / NOTES
5/20/2018 -- NOAA is having problems with the data feed that I use to draw the graphs. They are aware of the issue and working to resolve it. Sometimes changing the location by about a mile will give a correct graph. 3/3/2018 - There is a new GOES Satellite for the east coast that required rewriting that part of the code. Please report any issues.

Update
No major changes to the package. Looking at the latest hi-res
guidance for temperatures and dew points for this afternoon, and
12z sounding, there is a bit more moisture to work with than
yesterday. This may change the heat index readings by a few
degrees this afternoon, but at any rate, it is still going to
feel very hot again this afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms are
possible this afternoon as the atlantic seabreeze moves inland and
also with heating along the predominantly westerly flow. Similar
to yesterday, north central florida looks to have the most likely
location of surface convergence so have slightly higher pops
there. Overall most locations will remain dry today.

Aviation
Vfr conditions are expected today with westerly winds near 10
knots. The atlantic seabreeze will develop and move inland along
the i-95 corridor and shift winds at those terminals easterly with
some occasional gusts near 20 knots. Isolated thunderstorms are
possible across the area, with north central florida the most
likely location.

Marine
Weaker offshore flow will continue through Tuesday with afternoon
sea breezes along the coast. Wind speeds remain at 15 knots or
less and seas generally 2 to 3 feet. Weakening frontal boundary
pushes into the coastal waters on Tue night Wed time frame with
onshore winds returning but still generally less than 15 knots and
local sea breezes continuing. Showers and storms will increase
next week with the approach of the front and continue as the front
weakens over the waters.

Rip currents: low risk continues with offshore flow and weak sea
breeze during the afternoon hours. Surf breakers remain 2 ft or
less.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
