Synopsis for the far southern california coast - At 1 am, a 1030 mb high was 300 nm west of cape mendocino a 1023 mb high was over elko, nevada. A 1010 mb low covered the bight at the center of a coastal eddy and a 1004 mb low was over needles. Weak onshore flow will prevail through Sunday, with a coastal eddy spinning today through Thursday night.

SYNOPSIS
A weak coastal eddy will continue at times with night and morning coastal low clouds spreading into portions of the inland valleys into the weekend. There will be weak offshore flow this morning with locally gusty north winds to 35 mph. The deserts will be cooler today with the coast and valleys warmer. Then slowly warmer inland into the weekend with not much change for the coast and valleys. The coast and valleys may cool slightly for Monday and Tuesday as inland areas continue to slowly warm into next Wednesday. For the latter half of next week, there is much larger spread in the high temperature guidance depending on the placement of high pressure aloft that could be near the California coast to somewhat farther off the West Coast.

FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES...

.SHORT TERM (Today through Friday)...
A coastal eddy will continue at times into Saturday with night and morning coastal low clouds spreading into portions of the inland valleys. There be weak offshore flow today with locally gusty north winds this morning with gusts to 35 mph in the Inland Empire and 35 to 45 mph in the Coachella Valley north of Interstate 10.

High temperatures today for the deserts will be cooler and the Inland Empire warmer with lesser warming toward the coast. Then not much change in high temperatures for the coast and valleys into the weekend while the deserts slowly warm.

.LONG TERM (Saturday through Tuesday)...
Not much change in high temperatures for the coast and valleys for the weekend with high temperatures around average for the coast to a few degrees above average for the inland valleys. High temperatures will continue to warm for the weekend with Sunday high temperatures around 4 to 8 degrees above average for the deserts, into the upper 90s to around 100 for the lower deserts.
The coast and valleys may be slightly cooler for next Monday and Tuesday with not much change farther inland.

There is greater spread in the high temperature forecasts for the latter half of next week. Those that place high pressure aloft along the California coast are warmer while those farther off the West Coast with the high pressure aloft not as warm.

Low clouds with bases 1600-2200 feet MSL and tops to 2400 feet will continue to cover most coastal areas and portions of inland valleys. Local vis 4-6 SM in BR/HZ where clouds near terrain in the valleys. Clouds clearing 16-18Z, but with occasional BKN clouds near coast thereafter. Low clouds pushing back inland across San Diego County after 02Z and into Orange County after 06Z and spreading locally into inland valleys by Thursday morning. Otherwise mostly clear with unrestricted vis through Wednesday evening.

Northerly winds to spread through Morongo and Cajon Passes southward into valleys through 18Z. Local gusts 30-40 kt, weakening after 18Z.
MOD up/downdrafts and pockets of LLWS possible over and downwind of the mountains.

MARINE
No hazardous marine conditions are expected through Sunday.
