Marine Weather and Tides
5/20/2018 -- NOAA is having problems with the data feed that I use to draw the graphs. They are aware of the issue and working to resolve it. Sometimes changing the location by about a mile will give a correct graph. 3/3/2018 - There is a new GOES Satellite for the east coast that required rewriting that part of the code. Please report any issues.

Weak low pressure will alternate with weak high pressure this
coming week. Cooler with more coastal clouds this weekend, warmer
with less coastal cloudiness Monday through Wednesday, then
cooler with more coastal clouds later next week.
Discussion For extreme southwestern california including orange...
san diego... Western riverside and southwestern san bernardino
the cloud coverage this morning was slightly greater than it was
Friday morning. A coastal eddy has spun up and likely was the most
supportive factor for that outcome. Onshore flow strengthened to
the northeast, but stayed the same toward the east. Temperatures
will be noticeably lower in socal mountains and deserts today as a
low pressure trough moves through the interior west. The coastal
eddy will continue into Sunday for a very similar and slightly
cooler day. The marine inversion will be quite strong today, so
many coastal areas won't see the Sun today. The inversion weakens
a bit Sunday, so there should be just a little more sunshine at
the coast. High pressure aloft rebuilds Sunday into Tuesday across
the southwest, which will bring warmer weather to all areas and a
diminished marine layer. Coastal clouds will probably not make it
into inland valleys Tuesday through Thursday mornings.
Temperatures will head back above average inland on those days. A
low pressure trough will deepen in timid june fashion across the|
west Thursday into next weekend. That will reverse the trends,
bringing down daytime temperatures and extending the coastal
clouds into the valleys each night and morning.
231530z... Coast valleys... Stratus with bases ranging from 700-1500
ft msl and tops to 2000 ft msl will slowly burn off this morning to
the coast through 19z. Areas of vis 1=3 sm in br hz in the valleys.
However the beaches and up to a few miles inland may remain bkn-ovc
through the afternoon. Stratus beginning to move back inland after
24 01z and pushing into the inland valleys overnight. Bases will be
near 900-1600 ft msl.
Mountains deserts... Mostly clear with unrestricted vis through
No hazardous marine weather is expected through Wednesday.
Skywarn activation is not requested. However weather spotters are
encouraged to report significant weather conditions.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. The information on this web site has not been checked for accuracy. It is for entertainment purposes only and should be independently verified before using for any other reason. There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
