Synopsis 19 1259 pm.

Offshore winds, with warm and dry conditions are expected through
Saturday. This will bring fire weather danger to some areas in
los angeles and ventura counties through at least this evening.

Above normal temperatures will continue through the weekend, but
some cooling and a chances of showers by early next week.

Short term (tdy-mon) 19 143 pm.

Low grade santa ana event in progress with mostly sub-advisory
level winds and low humidities. Temps have jumped into the low 90s
across the coast and valleys. Slightly weaker gradients expected
tomorrow and same with the winds winds. Highs about the same or a
degree or two cooler as gradients start trending onshore by
afternoon.

Then a big cooling trend on tap Sunday through early next week as
an upper low just to our west very slowly moves inland resulting
in a return to onshore flow and likely some marine layer clouds as
well. Highs expected to fall quickly back down to near normal
levels by Monday. Can't rule out an isolated shower or
thunderstorm over the ventura mountains Sunday with some unstable
air in place, though moisture is limited and mostly confined to
higher levels.

Long term (tue-fri) 19 157 pm.

Models in pretty good agreement now showing the upper low
continuing its slow eastward slog and finally moving into the
rockies by Wednesday. Behind it high pressure will build over the
eastern pacific and expand to cover most of the western third of
the us by Friday. Along with that warming aloft models also
showing some offshore flow at the surface with the GFS checking in
with a -3.0 lax-dag gradient Friday morning. This could set the
stage for a significant warmup for late next week through the
weekend (possibly coinciding with a major sporting event at
chavez ravine) with highs potentially in the mid to high 90s for
coast valleys.

Aviation 19 1748z.

At 1725z at klax, there was no inversion or marine layer.

Hi confidence in the 18z tafs withVFR conditions expected at all
the airfields thru Sat morning.

Areas of gusty N to NE winds will affect portions of l.A. And vtu
counties at times thru today, with local llws and mdt uddf.

Klax... High confidence in the 18z TAF withVFR conds thru the pd.

Kbur... High confidence in the 18z TAF withVFR conds thru the pd.

Marine 19 129 pm.

For the outer waters, high confidence that winds will remain
below small craft advisory (sca) level thru mon, then there will
be a 40%-50% chance of SCA gusts at times Mon night through wed.

Across the inner waters N of point conception, winds should
remain below SCA levels thru Mon night, then there is a 30% chance
of SCA level winds at times Tue and possibly wed.

For the coastal waters S of point conception, winds should remain
below SCA levels thru wed.

Fire weather 19 1249 pm.

Northeasterly offshore winds will continue today, with gusts
between 30 and 45 mph over much of los angeles and ventura
counties, then slowly weaken into Saturday and Sunday. Humidities
should bottom out between 8 and 15 percent today, then increase
Saturday and Sunday. As a result, a marginal red flag warning will
remain in effect for much of los angeles and ventura counties
today, with elevated but just below critical conditions on
Saturday. There are no plans on extending or expanding this red
flag warning.

Locally gusty northeasterly winds (gusts of 20 to 30 mph) will
continue through Saturday over santa barbara and san luis obispo
counties as well. Humidities should bottom out between 8 and 15
percent today, then increase Saturday and Sunday. Elevated fire
conditions will persist there, but conditions should stay below
red flag thresholds.

This is a potentially dangerous situation. The public needs to
use extreme caution with any potential fire ignition sources.

Large fires have been started by things like discarded cigarettes,
campfires, welding equipment, metallic weed wackers, and dragging
trailer chains.

Lox watches warnings advisories
Ca... Red flag warning in effect until 10 pm pdt this evening for
zones 240-241-244>246-253-254-288-547-548. (see laxrfwlox).

Pz... None.

Hazard potential outlook (mon-fri)
A significant warming trend is possible late next week.
