Synopsis Dry weather will prevail over the central california
interior for the next several days. Above normal high
temperatures will continue through Monday before trending
slightly cooler by the middle of next week.

Discussion Dry weather with chilly mornings and warm afternoons
will continue today and Saturday. Upper-level high pressure will
continue along the west coast, with a weak offshore flow pattern
over the central california interior. A minor change in the weather
pattern is expected for later in the weekend, although it will
bear watching for some of the higher elevations.

On Sunday, there is the potential for showers to develop over the
sierra crest and towards frazier park in southern kern county,
and an isolated thunderstorm cannot be ruled out in these areas.

Based on NAM forecast soundings, mid-level CAPE (instability) is
sufficient for convective development that would result in at
least some cloud buildups over the mountains during the afternoon.

Moisture will be quite limited over the aforementioned mountain
areas, so we do not anticipate significant precipitation at this
time. It appears any deep subtropical moisture will remain well to
our east, although the upper-level low that develops along the
central ca coast during Saturday evening into Sunday morning that
will move onshore during the following afternoon could aid in
shower or isolated thunderstorm development. As of now, we are
still forecasting slight chances in terms of pops.

On Monday, temperatures are expected to lower by a few degrees,
or remain near to slightly above seasonal averages, and will
likely continue at similar levels through the remainder of next
week. Models differ in terms of the progression of the upper-
level low and position of the high pressure ridge in the western
u.S. During early next week, so am not very confident in day to
day changes through this period or later in the week. However,
what is more certain is we have more dry weather in store, with
generally little changes in temperature expected, or from what we
have recently been observing. As we progress further into the
week, the possibility of more widespread haze, or even ground fog
development, in parts of the san joaquin valley will gradually
increase for the early morning hours.

Aviation
Areas of MVFR in haze and mist in the san joaquin valley between 12z
and 18z today. Otherwise,VFR conditions are expected across the
central ca interior during the next 24 hours.

Air quality issues
None.

Certainty
The level of certainty for days 1 and 2 is high.

The level of certainty for days 3 through 7 is medium.

Certainty levels include low... Medium... And high. Please visit

GOES Local Image of Southwest    EDIT
NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
