Synopsis Light rain will end over the north bay by this
evening. Dry weather is expected on Friday and will continue
through most of Saturday. Rain will return to our region late
Saturday through Sunday.

Discussion As of 1:59 pm pst Thursday... Kmux radar still shows
a band of echoes stretching across the north bay counties and
into the central valley. Very little rainfall has reached the
ground from this, however, with only a few hundredths being
measured at a few automated rain gauges in the north bay. Current
temperatures are running cooler than yesterday at this time at
most locations with readings mainly in the 60s and 70s.

High pressure will rebuild over the state on Friday for dry and
mild conditions continuing through most of the weekend. Rain
chances will return to the district as a cold front impacts the
area. Rainfall is expected to begin in the north bay Saturday
evening, and then spread south across our entire area through
Sunday. Rain will briefly switch to showers behind the front late
Sunday with dry weather returning again early next week. Rainfall
amounts are forecast to range from generally 1 4" to 1 2" for
most urban locations, with coastal ranges seeing 1 2" to 1", and
possibly some areas getting up to 1 1 4". In addition to the
rain, gusty southerly winds will accompany the frontal passage
with gusts to 25 mph possible.

After this upper trough moves eastward on Monday, the rest of the
week is expected to be dry and mild as another ridge of high
pressure builds over the west.

Aviation As of 3:30 pm pst Friday... For 00z tafs. Mid and high
level clouds remain over the area along with scattered showers
around the north bay. Still expecting those showers to dissipate
by this evening. Winds have turned onshore at around 10 kt and
will decrease into tonight. CIGS are expected to lower this
evening and overnight across the region down to MVFR ifr.

Confidence in timing of development and clearing of MVFR ifr cigs
is low.

Low-moderate forecast confidence.

Vicinity of ksfo...VFR conditions expected to remain until tonight.

Nw wnw winds this afternoon, around 10 kt. Current thinking is
still MVFR CIGS rolling in around 08-09z.

Sfo bridge approach... Similar to ksfo.

Monterey bay terminals...VFR this afternoon, with ifr cigs
possible around midnight; low confidence on cig timing. Light to
moderate NW winds this afternoon, 5-10 kt with higher winds
possible through early tonight at ksns.

Marine As of 02:51 pm pst Thursday... Coastal troughing along
the southern california coast will continue to cause moderate to
occasionally strong northernly winds over the southern coastal
waters through the remainder of the week, and possibly into
Saturday morning. Winds will increase and turn out of the south by
late Saturday morning as a low pressure system moves into the
pacific northwest waters. In response, northwest swell increases
late Saturday night and continue to increase through the weekend.

Rain will spread over the area Saturday night and Sunday.

I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
