Synopsis An upper level trough pushing through the pacific
northwest will dig southward result in a cooling trend through
Tuesday. Temperatures then rebound to near seasonal averages for the
remainder of the week with periods of night and morning clouds along
the coast and into the valleys.

Discussion As of 03:29 am pdt Monday... An upper level
disturbance and associated trough pushing through the pacific
northwest will drop southward today through Tuesday and result in
a cooling trend over the region. This will also help to deepen the
marine layer over the next few days as well which has already
resulted in widespread stratus spreading inland into the valleys
this morning. Thus, look for temperatures this afternoon to be a
few degrees cooler compared to yesterday. With the deepening
marine layer, look for for the potential for coastal drizzle the
next few nights as well.

The aforementioned trough will lift northward by midweek and allow
for the ridge of high pressure to strengthen slightly late in the
week. This will bring about a slight warming trend for inland areas
with temperatures rebounding to near seasonal averages Wednesday and
beyond. Afternoon temperatures will likely range from the upper 50s
to 70s at the coast with 80s to lower 90s for the interior.

Overnight lows will generally be in the 50s for most urban
locations. For what it is worth, the cpc's 6-10 and even 8-14 day
outlook also supports temperatures near seasonal averages through
the end of the month.

Aviation As of 4:50 am pdt Monday... Satellite imagery reveals
widespread low clouds across the region under a deepening 1400 ft
marine layer. Smoke will once again reduce slant range vsbys as
well as horizontal vsbys at select terminals today and Tuesday.

Light winds anticpated to increase this afternoon becoming
moderate and locally gusty.

Vicinity of ksfo... A hole over the san francisco bay will likely
maintainVFR conditions over ksfo while koak retains MVFR cigs
till 18z today.VFR conditions expected through the afternoon and
evening with CIGS anticipated to return after midnight tonight.

Light winds increasing to moderate and locally gusty this
afternoon. Reduce slant range and horizontal vsbys will be
impacting area terminals today and Tuesday.

Sfo bridge approach... Moderate to poor slant range visibility for
the period. Otherwise similar to ksfo.

Monterey bay terminals... Ifr lifr CIGS will clear back to the
coast around 17z-18z today.VFR conditions expected through the
afternoon with CIGS anticipated to return around 02z this evening.

Light winds. Reduce slant range and horizontal vsbys will be
impacting area terminals today and Tuesday.

Marine As of 2:53 am pdt Monday... A thermal trough along the
california coast will maintain light winds across much of the
coastal waters through midweek. Stronger winds are expected over
the northern outer waters today. Breezy west winds are also
expected to through the golden gate during the afternoon and
evening hours. Light to moderate mixed northwest and southerly
swell will persist through the first half of the week.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
