Synopsis High pressure over the west coast will result in a
gradual warming trend through Saturday, along with mainly clear sky
conditions and cool overnights. The dry pattern is forecast to
persist through the remainder of the month.

Discussion As of 02:00 pm pst Wednesday... Mainly clear sky
conditions persist over the region this afternoon with
temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s. This trend is forecast
to persist into Thursday with slightly warmer daytime
temperatures as 850mb temperatures warm. Subtle warming will
continue into Friday and Saturday with more widespread middle 60s
to lower 70s as weak offshore flow develops. Overnight
temperatures will generally range from the upper 30s to middle 40s
each night. Widespread fog development is not likely, even in the
typically foggy valley locations given the dry air mass in place
and weak offshore winds.

The ridge is forecast to weaken slightly and shift back out over the
pacific by early next week which will allow for slightly cooler
daytime temperatures (more widespread 60s). Dry conditions are
likely region-wide through the end of the month with temperatures
near seasonal averages. The longer range operational models and
ensemble guidance hint at the potential for some light rain around
february 1st or 2nd. Until then, we will continue to monitor.

Aviation As of 9:18 am pst Wednesday... For 18z tafs. High
pressure will maintain mainly clear skies across area terminals
with the exception of a few high clouds. Generally light winds
will prevail through the forecast period.

Vicinity of ksfo...VFR conditions will prevail through the period
with only a few high clouds expected. Light to locally variable winds
will persist.

Sfo bridge approach... Similar to sfo.

Monterey bay terminals...VFR conditions and light winds will
prevail through the period.

Marine As of 8:28 am pst Wednesday... High pressure over the
eastern pacific will generate moderate to locally gusty northerly
winds across the coastal waters through much of the week. A series
of small to moderate northwest swells are forecast throughout the
week.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

The information on this web site has not been checked for accuracy. It is for entertainment purposes only and should be independently verified before using for any other reason. There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
