Marine Weather and Tides
Oakley, CA

Version 3.4
What's New / NOTES
5/20/2018 -- NOAA is having problems with the data feed that I use to draw the graphs. They are aware of the issue and working to resolve it. Sometimes changing the location by about a mile will give a correct graph. 3/3/2018 - There is a new GOES Satellite for the east coast that required rewriting that part of the code. Please report any issues.

national weather service sacramento ca
207 pm pdt Sun jun 17 2018

Synopsis
A chance of foothill, mountain and northern sacramento valley
showers and thunderstorms through the evening then becoming dry.

Temperatures warming above normal by Tuesday and staying above
normal this week.

Discussion
The low pressure system is centered over northwest nevada this
afternoon with moisture wrapping around the low back into the
northern portions of california. Some showers have developed along
mountains north of i-80 and over shasta county. The northerly flow
will continue to push activity further south into the evening
hours when showers with isolated thunderstorms may spread over the
northern half of the sacramento valley. The activity should die
off late in the evening towards midnight. Thunderstorms will
likely contain heavy rainfall and small hail into the evening
hours before ending.

The low will move over southern idaho on Monday. There may be
enough left over moisture on Monday to produce a few showers over
the mountains but for the most part expect a dry day and warmer
temperatures. A ridge will build over the area Tuesday and
Wednesday with temperatures warming each day. Some of the warmest
temperatures may top out near 100 degrees over the north end of
the valley both days. Flow through the delta will continue each
day and will likely help to limit the highs to the mid 90s in the
sacramento region.

.Extended discussion (Thursday through Sunday)
ridge of high pressure over the southwest u.S. Will lead to dry
conditions and well above normal temperatures across interior
norcal during the extended period. Forecast guidance indicates a
shortwave trough moving through the pacific northwest late this
week but timing differences prevail... ECMWF on Thursday and gfs
on Friday. At this point, precipitation is anticipated to remain
north of the region. Once the shortwave shifts into the great
basin, breezy north winds could develop. The breezy north winds
and well above normal temperatures will continue through the
weekend as ridging remains in control. By late this week, widespread
triple digits could be possible across valley locations. Thus,
there is the potential for moderate heat risk for sensitive groups
including the elderly and the very young.

Aviation
Vfr conditions the next 24 hours. Isolated showers or
thunderstorms possible over the mountains through the evening
hours tonight. Breezy south to southwest winds 10 to 20 mph
through this evening. Gusts to 30 mph through the delta. Winds
decreasing slowly after 06z Monday.

Sto watches warnings advisories
None.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
