Synopsis
Dry today then several pacific storms move through bringing
cooler temperatures with some light precipitation tonight into
Thursday.

Discussion (today through Wednesday)
Dry today ahead of a slightly stronger disturbance that will move
through the interior late tonight and Monday. This will bring some
precipitation to the interior starting late in the evening and
lasting through Monday. Todays highs will generally warm to around
70 degrees in the valley to the 50s in the mountains. Clouds
should be on the increase this afternoon and evening ahead of the
precipitation. Generally a trace to less than a tenth of an inch
of rainfall is expected within the valley to a quarter to an inch
of rain for the foothills and mountains. Snow levels will be high
enough at times to limit the amount of snowfall below major pass
levels to an inch or two.

Moist zonal flow will continue to stream clouds over the region
through Wednesday and a weaker disturbance on Tuesday may bring
some more light amounts of precipitation to the interior. Most of
the precipitation will be over the mountains but a few showers
may move over the sacramento valley at times. Temperatures will
remain 5 degrees or more below normal today and Tuesday and around
10 degrees below normal for Monday.

.Extended discussion (Thursday through Sunday)
amplifying upper ridge over the eastern pacific will gradually
build into norcal later in the week resulting in dry and warmer
conditions. Temperatures expected to finally return to above
average by next weekend. Periods of breezy north winds expected.

Aviation
Vfr conditions will predominate over the next 24 hours except
local MVFR ceilings continue across the foothills and west slopes
of the northern sierra nevada. Next weather system spreads inland
after 06z Monday bringing light precipitation along with lowering
ceilings north of i-80.

Sto watches/warnings/advisories
None.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
