Synopsis
Weak weather systems will bring light precipitation through
Wednesday. Gusty north winds develop late in the week.

Discussion
Dry weather persists across most of interior northern california
as a shortwave ridge nudges into the region. A few showers are
moving through the far northern portions of the state as warm
advection starts to take hold. For the majority of our forecast
area, dry weather with partly cloudy skies will continue today.

Expect temperatures to top out around 70 degrees across the
valley, with 40s to 60s over the mountains. These forecast
temperatures are a few degrees cooler than normal for this time of
year.

A series of weak weather systems will pass through the region
today through Wednesday. Only light precipitation totals are
expected with these systems: mainly focused north of interstate
80 and over the mountains.

After these systems pass by, a longwave trough will deepen over
the great basin in an "inside slider" pattern. This is
traditionally a favorable pattern for breezy north winds across
northern california. At this stage it looks like wind gusts in
the range of 30-40 mph will be possible Thursday through Friday in
the valley... Strongest in the san joaquin valley.

Dang
.Extended discussion (Saturday through Tuesday)
high amplitude upper ridging in the epac extends over interior
norcal through the weekend resulting in dry conditions with above
normal temperatures. Breezy northerly winds from Friday continue
into Saturday. Ridging weakens over northern portions of ca Monday
as a short wave trough digs through the pacnw into the great
basin. This will result in minor cooling over northern portions of
the forecast area. High pressure rebuilds behind the wave Monday
night into Tuesday resulting in a return of breezy northerly wind.

Low level CAA with this flow will offset downslope warming and
maintain slightly cooler temps of northern portions Tuesday.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
