Synopsis
Dry and warmer today. Some light precipitation possible across
norcal late Friday through Saturday. Isolated thunderstorms
possible with high snow levels. Dry and warm again Sunday through
mid week.

Discussion
Temps trending some 5 to 10 degrees warmer over most of the area
under clear skies this morning, and are forecast to warm to 10 to 15
degrees above normal this afternoon, the warmest temps so far this
year. Some high cloudiness may spread over the SRN portion of the
cwa this evening from the sly swly flow from the low vcnty 28n 130w
and the amplified ridge over WRN noam.

Broad 5h trof and upper low over norcal Sat afternoon evening may
warrant extending pops wx a little farther S in our cwa, and will be
working on that for the afternoon package. Jhm

Previous discussion
High pressure ridge over the west coast will bring fair skies and
more warming today. Daytime highs should MAX out from 10 to 15
degrees above normal for this time of year. Upper ridge axis shifts
east of the state on Friday as a weak upper trough approaches the
coast. Daytime highs will cool a bit but still come in well above
normal. The northern coast range may even see a little precipitation
by late in the day. As the upper through swings across the north
state Friday evening through Saturday, light precipitation will be
possible mainly north of interstate 80. Enough instability is
indicated with this system passage that combined with daytime
surface heating will bring a threat of thunderstorms both Friday
evening and Saturday afternoon. Daytime highs Saturday will drop
back down to around normal.

Upper ridge pushes back in over the west coast bringing an end to
any precipitation threat by Sunday morning. Daytime highs push
quickly back up again to well above normal Sunday afternoon with
fair skies going into next week.

.Extended discussion (Monday through Thursday)
high pressure is expected to build over the region allowing for
warm and dry conditions. Chances for precip seem to be bouncing
around at this point, with the latest guidance showing showers and
potentially even some thunderstorms developing next weekend for
the cascades and northern mountains.

Aviation
Quiet weather continues for northern california withVFR
conditions and generally light winds forecast for the next 24
hours.

Sto watches warnings advisories
None.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
