Synopsis
High pressure will build over the region through
Thursday night, then move offshore Friday. A cold front will
move through the area Sunday afternoon.

Near term through Wednesday
High pressure will continue to build into the great lakes and
midwest through Wednesday. A northwest flow ahead of the high
will usher in noticeably chillier conditions compared to recent
days... But it will be near slightly above climo for this time
of year. A sct to bkn stratocu deck is expected at times... But
there should still be a decent amount of sunshine Wednesday.

For locations along west of the allegheny front... An upslope
component to the low-level flow will cause snow showers through
Wednesday. The steadiest snow showers are expected through late
tonight while the subsidence inversion is higher and cold
advection is stronger. Accumulating snow is expected above 2000
feet... But snowfall accumulations are most likely to be below
advisory criteria. 1-3" of snow is most likely through late
tonight across these areas.

Short term Wednesday night through Thursday night
High pressure will remain in control through Thu night with more
seasonable temps. Light snow showers are expected to continue
over the appalachians Wed night before diminishing by thu
morning.

Long term Friday through Tuesday
Dry conditions expected for Friday as high pressure moves
offshore and winds become southerly. High temperatures will be
between the mid 40s and low 50s... And low temperatures Friday
night in the 30s.

Dry conditions expected again on Saturday as high pressure continues
to push east into the atlantic and warm advection increases. A
slight chance of showers is possible in the afternoon evening ahead
of a cold front, but looking more likely to the western part of our
cwa.

Pops increases Saturday into Sunday as cold front approaches from
the west and then moves through on Sunday. Guidance suggests
precipitation could last into Sunday night, therefore have to watch
temperatures for ptypes concerns, especially for higher elevations.

Dry conditions return sometime on Monday and into Tuesday with high
pressure in control of our area.

Aviation 02z Wednesday through Sunday
Winds will diminish a bit tonight due to the loss of
mixing... But more gusts from the northwest are expected
Wednesday around 20 knots.VFR conditions will prevail during
this time with a sct-bkn stratocu deck around 5kft.VFR
conditions are expected Wednesday night and Thursday with
lighterwinds as high pressure settles overhead.

Vfr conditions expected between Friday and Saturday with high
pressure moving south or near our area. Sub-vfr conditions
possible Saturday night into Sunday with cold front moving
through.

Marine
Winds are expected to diminish a bit tonight due to the loss of
mixing and weakening cold advection. However... A small craft
advisory remains in effect into the overnight hours for the
maryland chesapeake bay south of pooles island and the lower
tidal potomac river. Winds will pick back up again Wednesday due
to increased mixing and a weak pressure surge. A small craft
advisory is in effect for all of the waters during this time.

The SCA may need to be extended Wednesday night into Thursday.

Wind gusts will be below SCA criteria most times Friday into
Sunday. There might be short periods where SCA criteria might be
reached Saturday or Saturday night.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
