Short term (through late tonight)
issued at 345 am cst Sun nov 19 2017
the low level cloudiness was finally advecting east of our forecast
area early this morning as a large surface ridge over the plains was
building eastward into our area. Northwesterly surface winds, albeit
not as strong as yesterday continue to bring colder and drier air
into the forecast area early this morning. Despite full sunshine
today temperatures will be below normal with northwesterly mid-upper
level flow. Highs today will be 5 to 10 degrees below normal. Will
see slightly warmer low temperatures tonight across northeast and
central mo as surface low level winds back around to a southwesterly
direction as the surface 850 mb ridge shifts southeast of our
region. There may be some high level cloudiness tonight ahead of a
weak northwest flow shortwave. The coldest low temperatures
tonight, still slightly below normal will occur across southeast mo
and southwest il.

Gks

Long term (Monday through Saturday)
issued at 345 am cst Sun nov 19 2017
a longwave upper trof will persist over eastern north america
throughout this period. This will allow several disturbances and a
pair of surface cold fronts to pass thru our region.

The models continue to depict a series of shortwave disturbances
slated to pass thru our region between Monday and Wednesday, but
also depict the atmospheric column as being too dry to support pcpn.

The best chance for pcpn may be with passage of the second cold
front on Friday night where moisture levels will be somewhat higher
but as it stands now, probs still look low.

Temperatures will see-saw this week, beginning above average with
temps exceeding 60f in places on Monday thanks to breezy southerly
flow and abundant sunshine. This warm up will be short-lived as a
cold front moves thru on Tuesday with another brief bout of below
average temps Wednesday and Thursday. A return of southerly flow
towards next weekend will begin the next rebound of temps into the
50s and possibly 60s for Friday. Another cold front passing thru on
Friday night should result in slightly cooler temps on Saturday.

Tes

Aviation (for the 06z tafs through 06z Sunday night)
issued at 1123 pm cst Sat nov 18 2017
clear sky likely through the period with brisk northwest winds
slackening overnight. Surface ridge will move across the area
Sunday afternoon evening with winds eventually becoming out of the
south southwest.VFR conditions should continue through the
period.

Specifics for kstl:
mostly clear sky withVFR conditions through the period. Northwest
winds will weaken overnight tonight. Winds will become westerly
Sunday afternoon and eventually southerly as surface ridge departs
into the ohio valley.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
