SYNOPSIS
Temperatures continue to trend cooler today, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over portions of northern and eastern Nevada. Showers end this evening, with dry conditions across the region on Tuesday.

SHORT TERM
Today through Tuesday night. Trough energy continues to dig south through the Pacific NW and into Nevada bringing cooler temperatures and gusty northerly winds to the entire region, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms to portions of northern and eastern NV (mainly in Elko and White Pine counties) through this evening. Temperatures this afternoon will be 5-10 degrees cooler than yesterday for most of the region, with highs generally in the 50s to 60s. Lows tonight will be 2-5 degrees cooler than Sunday night, with 30s across most of northern NV and 40s across most of central Nevada. A dry northwesterly flow aloft sets up across NV Tuesday with mild conditions across the CWA

LONG TERM
Wednesday through next Sunday.

Deep closed upper low moves south into northern Nevada Wednesday with west/northwesterly breezes and gusts around 30 mph. Scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms will also be present with the bulk of the precipitation remaining north of the I-80 corridor. Any accumulations will be light and around 0.10” or less. Daytime high temperatures Wednesday will be in the low to mid 60s along the Idaho and Oregon borders with overnight lows in the mid to upper 20s. Whereas daytime highs reach the upper 70s across portions of northern Nye County with overnight lows in the low to mid 40s, all thanks to a strong temperature gradient associated with the deep low situated across northern Nevada.

General troffing remains in place thru the long term period with additional waves skirting northern Nevada. This will bring probability of precipitation to the region though probabilities will be low at 20% or less. West/northwest afternoon breezes also remain in place. Main weather item will be temperatures continuing to reside colder than average thru the week before rebounding this weekend. Temperatures around 10 degrees cooler than average are expected across northern Nevada.
