Synopsis
Pacific storm moves through today into Monday bringing
some rain and mountain snow. Drier Tuesday followed by a threat
of another storm midweek.

Discussion
Precipitation chances increase tonight when the heaviest
precipitation is expected to occur as the trough shifts
inland. By late evening travel over the crest should be
worsening. While not a big event there might be just enough
snowfall to cause travel issues.

Models indicate lingering showers on Monday for the western
slopes before ending Monday evening. Monday morning is when the
snow levels will be the lowest and likely below 4000 feet, but
by then the system will be near its end. 3-6 inches of new
snowfall above 4000 to 5000 feet with up to 10 inches across the
peaks looks possible. Rainfall amounts for the valley will be
less than a quarter inch with most places only measuring in the
hundredths to one quarter to three quarters of an inch for the
foothills and mountains.

Northerly winds will develop for Monday and Tuesday and may be
breezy. After a couple of cool days temperatures will warm into
the 70s on Tuesday in the valley and 50s in the mountains.

A weaker system than this current one will move through the
northern half of the CWA on Wednesday bringing with it a chance of
showers for that area.

.Extended discussion (Thursday through Sunday)
a brief shortwave trough is expected to move through the area
Thursday bringing precipitation mainly to the mountains, though
the euro model is trending slightly more south with the system.

Low precipitation accumulation is expected with this system.

Ridging then builds over the west coast Friday into the weekend
leading to dry weather. Temperatures warm with the high pressure,
reaching into the upper 70s in the valley on Saturday. Mostly
northerly winds will persist through the weekend with locally
stronger winds.

Hec

Aviation

Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
