Synopsis The weather will be dry today and Thursday except for
afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms over the mountains.

An upper low will bring a chance of showers to the area for the end
of the week. Weak high pressure will be in place by early next week.

Short term today through Friday It will be mostly sunny days
today and Thursday in the lowlands. Afternoon and evening showers
will build up over the mountains, and there might be a thunderstorm
or two. Highs will warm through Thursday--with the warmest areas up
around 77 on Thursday. An upper trough will drop over the area
Friday and shift into oregon on Saturday for some shower activity
and cooler temps.

Long term Saturday through Tuesday Showers should mainly
just be over the cascades on Saturday and high pressure builds back
over the region Sunday and Monday. The weather pattern next week
looks unremarkable for western washington--maybe we will get into a
regime of areas of morning clouds otherwise sunny days for a few
days.

Aviation Northwest flow aloft will continue with an upper ridge
offshore and an upper trough inland. At the surface, onshore flow
will prevail with high pressure offshore and lower pressure
inland. The air mass is somewhat moist and stable, except
becoming unstable over the cascades this afternoon and evening.

Areas of low clouds, mostly southwest interior, will burn off
today. Otherwise, mid level clouds will be around today and
tonight. Some low clouds are likely again Thursday morning but
they look more patchy compared to this morning.

Ksea... Mid level clouds today and tonight. Light south wind this
morning will become north to northwest 5-10 knots this afternoon
then light again tonight. Schneider

Marine Onshore flow will prevail for the next couple of days
with high pressure offshore and lower pressure. Onshore flow will
ease Friday and Saturday and turn offshore on Sunday as a thermal
trough develops along the coast.

There will be small craft advisory strength northwest winds over
the outer coastal waters through Friday night with gales possible
on Friday. The small craft advisory strength northwest winds will
expand into the inner coastal waters Thursday night and Friday.

There will be small craft advisory strength west winds in the
central and east entrance to the strait of juan de fuca the next
couple of evenings. The strongest westerlies will be Thursday
evening when it might briefly hit gale in the strait.

There will also be 10+ feet west to northwest swell over the
coastal waters the next few days, mostly over the outer coastal
waters. Schneider

Hydrology The daily hydrology discussion has ended until the
start of the next rainy season; it will only be updated as needed
until then.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
