Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 225 PM EST Tue Dec 7 2021

SHORT TERM (Remainder of today - Thursday). An upper low tracks across southern Hudson Bay, Canada and troughs down to the Gulf coast over night with an embedded short wave trough scooting over the north and northeast Gulf of Mexico. these features push out over the Atlantic late Wed as ridging begins to build north over the Gulf . in response to a low approaching northern Baja California, Mexico. At the surface weak high pressure slides off to the east tonight as a frontal boundary settles into northern FL and stalls later in the night. The boundary begins to dissipate Wed and lift northward as high pressure builds back in for Thu.

The atmosphere will moisten some over the next few days which with generally light flow will continue to make fog and sea fog the main concerns. The sea fog remains offshore with an advisory in effect through the early evening. Then this fog begins to drift on shore as radiational fog begins to form on land and increases overnight with dense fog again likely before sunrise. Similar conditions may occur Wed night into Thu. in addition the approaching frontal boundary will support isolated to scattered showers moving south late morning through the afternoon on Wed. These showers will be on the wane as they trek south . no farther than the I-4 Corridor.

LONG TERM (Thursday night - Tuesday). High pressure surface and aloft will build in over the region through Saturday with dry and warm weather expected. During Saturday night a potent mid level trough will move across the lower MS valley and Southeastern States with an attendant stronger cold front moving south through the forecast area during late Saturday night into early Sunday with some scattered showers (Pops ~30%) along and ahead of it. During Sunday night into Monday drier and slightly cooler air will advect into the region on a breezy north to northeast wind flow in the wake of the front as surface high pressure builds toward the mid Atlantic coast through Tuesday. Temperatures will run above normal through early Sunday with overnight lows in the 60s, with daytime highs in the lower to mid 80s. Temperatures will then fall briefly back to near normal Sunday night into Monday in the wake of the front with lows falling Into the 40s and 50s from north to south, with daytime highs in the 70s. A slow increase in moisture along with moderating temperatures can be expected on Tuesday as the flow becomes easterly as the high drifts eastward into the Atlantic.

AVIATION. 07/18Z-08/18Z. VFR gives way to MVFR in the evening and IFR overnight as sea fog rolls on shore and radiational fog forms inland. The fog along with some low ST will lift and mix out BTWN 13-15Z with VFR thereafter. W and NW winds become light and VRBL to calm overnight.

MARINE. Winds/seas no more than 15 knots/3 feet . although a slight increase in seas is expected late in the weekend. The main concern continues to be sea fog . occasionally dense . through at least Wed and perhaps later in the week.

FIRE WEATHER. A moist air mass with light flow dominates with overnight fog and some rain chances Wed when the frontal boundary approaches. Any rain is expected to be mainly north of the I-4 Corridor. The light flow will result in some low dispersions Thu.
