Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 759 PM EDT Thu Sep 23 2021

UPDATE. Did I just see a FROPA?!? Ok, admittedly the first cold front or two of the season usually doesn't result in too much for West Central and Southwest Florida, but it has happened today nonetheless and will result in some slight weather changes over the next day or two. Overnight, expect lows to bottom out in the 60s across the Nature Coast with a very pleasant day on tap through the remainder of the day. PWAT < 1.25 inches in this area will result in nil shower and storm chances through the day. Farther south, where the effects from the front gradually diffused out, expect temperatures to be a few degrees warmer with higher dewpoints (I-4 corridor southward = dewpoints in the 70s). Rain chances will be limited to South Central and Southwest Florida. No changes necessary to the current forecast with the only thunderstorm over our area currently in Highlands county.

AVIATION. Prevailing VFR conditions through the night with light north/northeast winds. FEW/SCT low clouds possible from SRQ southward but overall confidence in any restrictions is low. Convection will be confined over Southwest Florida tomorrow afternoon and VCTS will only be mentioned at PGD/RSW/FMY by 19Z.

MARINE. A weak cold front continues to push across our forecast area this evening and will stall out across the central and southern coastal zones into the weekend. Wind speeds along the boundary expected to remain below cautionary levels and continue subsiding into the evening. Showers and a few storms will continue to be possible along and ahead of the frontal boundary, producing locally gusty winds in the vicinity of the storms. The front will push south of Florida during the second half of the weekend, keeping rain chances low into early next week.
