Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 204 PM EST Sun Nov 28 2021

DISCUSSION. An upper level trough over the eastern US this afternoon . with a short wave trough near the northeast Gulf coast . shifts offshore early Mon as ridging over the Intermountain West begins sliding east. At the surface a diffuse cold front from the northeast Gulf coast and stretching to the western Gulf tracks southeast . across the state this afternoon and tonight . and into Cuba and the Bahamas early Mon. High pressure builds into the southeast quarter of the nation Mon.

Approaching upper level disturbance and front will continue to spread increasing mid and high clouds and isolated showers across the area through the evening Rain chances are low. 20 percent . and will mainly be offshore through late night. Both features exit the area after sunrise with the clouds slowly clearing early in the day.

Tue-Sun: Upper ridging from the Intermountain West slides along the Gulf coast to the southeast US . flattening some as it does. This will keep nearly zonal flow over the area while a couple of short wave troughs move above the Gulf coastal states . Thu and Sat. At the surface high pressure settles down along Latitude 30 North and elongates . remaining in place through the period.

The high pressure will be the major player in the weather across the area A dry. stable . and cool atmosphere prevails. The forecast is rain free and initially cool but with a slow warming trend to near near or just above seasonal by the end period.

AVIATION. 28/18Z-29/18Z. Have opted to keep TAFs VFR as mid/high clouds spread into the area and increase . then begin to exit during end of period. There will be ISOLD SHRA around but will leave out of the TAFs. The only concern could be enough low level moisture for MVFR CIGS late night-sunrise but have limited confidence in this occurring Winds NE-NW AOB 09KT. but light overnight.

MARINE. Winds/seas no more than 15 knots/3 feet. High pressure slides east as a front with isolated showers settles south this afternoon and tonight. High pressure builds in behind the front. Winds initially have a northerly component but this becomes northeasterly toward the end of the week.

FIRE WEATHER. Most locations are currently below or close to 35 percent. But winds are light so no Red Flag concerns. A frontal passage later in the afternoon and during the night will bring a slight increase in moisture with a few showers possible. Dry high pressure begins to return Mon with the RH near but not at critical values both Mon and Tue. Moisture slowly increase for the rest of the week. A few high dispersion values are expected Mon.
