Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Melbourne FL 325 AM EDT Tue Sep 28 2021

DISCUSSION.

Today-Tonight . Rinse and repeat forecast from yesterday as high pressure maintains dry conditions across Central FL. Afternoon highs will reach the mid 80s along the coast and upper 80s to 90 degrees inland. Dew points will be a few degrees lower today, so should see RH values this afternoon fall to the 45-50% along the coast, and 40- 45% inland. Clear skies tonight as overnight lows drop into the mid to upper 60s, with low 60s for normally cooler spots.

Through late week . No sig change in dry pattern through midweek. Recent model guidance since Monday delay onset of mentionable shower chc by about 12-24H across the Treasure Cst as high pressure remains the dominant feature.

The warm Atlc waters will influence temp readings with lows U60s to lows 70s coast and M-U60s inland. Some Atlc sprinkles or light showers wl become psbl Thu night, spreading north along the remainder of the coast and marine areas by Fri as incrsg moisture occurs under a weakening ridge.

Extended . Easterlies are shown freshening late Fri into Sat with incrsg moisture steadily from S-N. A more unsettled pattern over the central to eastern CONUS coupled with some advertised height falls over the Caribbean should increase rain chcs to sct locally into early next week with full breakdown of the ridge shown during the early part of next week.

AVIATION.

VFR conditions will prevail through the period, with no rain in the forecast. Light winds this morning become northeast 5-10KT this afternoon.

MARINE.

Today-Tonight . Favorable boating conditions as high pressure maintains dry conditions across the region. Northeast to east- northeast winds 5-10 knots this afternoon. Seas 2-3 feet.

Remainder of week . High pressure just N of the waters will produce mostly favorable open water conds through midweek with a underlying swell originating from the open Atlc. Seas 2-3 ft Wed increasing to 3-4 ft by Thu as swell likely from Hurricane Sam increases seas late week to 4-5 ft. Seas shown peaking around 5-6 ft Sat into Sun with fully arisen conds due to combination of swell and somewhat higher onshore flow dvlpg as well. Headlines may be required for a portion of the waters this weekend.

HYDROLOGY. The St. Johns River at Astor/ASTF1 is forecast to remain in Minor Flood Stage, around 2.3 feet into early October. At Geneva above Lake Harney/GENF1, the river is forecast to slowly recede the rest of this week while remaining in Action Stage.
