DISCUSSION.

Today-Tonight . Surface high pressure in place across the Southeast U.S. will maintain dry conditions here in Central FL. Morning temps ranging from low/mid 60s to low 70s will steadily climb into the afternoon, reaching the mid 80s along the coast and upper 80s to around 90 degrees inland. Dew points in the low to mid 60s will make for a pleasant, yet warm, start to the week. Clear, dry again tonight. Overnight lows drop into the mid/upper 60s, except for low 70s for the barrier islands south of the Cape.

Remainder of Week . Transition out of September will be accompanied by a period of dryness as high pressure remains the dominant feature across the SE states and eastern Gulf. The flow pattern wl remain modest, with backed sfc winds dvlpg during the overnight and onshore conditions during the afternoons. Inland locations can be expected to be a little cooler at night due to diurnal tendency of backed winds and less influence from the still warm Atlc waters. Highs M80s coast to near 90 inland with lows U60s to lows 70s coast and M-U60s inland. Some Atlc sprinkles or light showers wl become psbl by Thu as incrsg near sfc moisture begins to sneak over the Treasure Cst under the weakening ridge.

Extended . Easterlies are shown freshening during the weekend with incrsg moisture steadily from S-N. A broad continental shortwave migrating swd with time from the TN Valley coupled with adt'l height falls over the Caribbean should increase rain chcs once again locally into early next week.

AVIATION.

VFR conditions will prevail through the period with no rain expected across the area. Calm winds early this morning will become northeast late morning into the evening.

MARINE.

Today-Tonight . High pressure across the region will maintain dry conditions today. With the high centered well north of the area, northeast winds increase to 10-15 knots this afternoon. There is still some swell across the local waters where seas are 3-4 feet, and that should diminish to 2-3 feet late tonight.

Remainder of week . Presence of high pressure to the proximity and N of the waters will produce mostly favorable open water conds with a swell component emanating from the open Atlc. Seas 2-3 ft through midweek increasing to 3-4 ft Thu as swell likely from Hurricane Sam increases seas late week to 4-5 ft. Seas shown peaking around 5-6 ft Sat with fully arisen conds due to combination of swell and somewhat higher onshore flow dvlpg as well. Headlines may be required for a portion of the weekend.

HYDROLOGY.

The St. Johns River at Astor/ASTF1 is forecast to remain in Minor Flood Stage, between 2.3 to 2.4 feet, through mid week as a period of northeast winds prevent the river from flowing steadily downstream. At Geneva above Lake Harney/GENF1, the river is forecast to slowly recede this week, but remain in Action Stage.
