Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tallahassee FL 631 PM EST Tue Nov 30 2021

AVIATION. [Through 00Z Thursday]

A swath of high clouds streaming in from the west will maintain few-sct sky cover thru the TAF period. Otherwise, VFR conds prevail, with lgt/vrb winds tonight, then becoming southerly between 17 and 19Z at around 5 kts.

PREV DISCUSSION [217 PM EST].

NEAR TERM [Through Wednesday]. High pressure will continue contributing to our dry, and warming weather today. Although we had a chilly morning, temperatures will rise to the upper 60s this afternoon. Tomorrow, Highs are expected to be in the upper 60s/low 70s. Due to mostly clear skies in place, radiational cooling will cause temperatures to fall again tonight to the mid to upper 30s.

An upper level trough will approach on Wednesday. Not much change in the weather but; our winds will become southerly/southwesterly through the day, which will elevate our RH values for the afternoon, compared to today's. No rain is expected.

SHORT TERM [Wednesday Night Through Thursday Night]. Quiet weather will continue through the middle of the week as the broad trough over the eastern CONUS continues to reinforce the dry and seasonable airmass. A short wave will move through the base of the trough on Thursday, pushing a weak front across the area. However, with little moisture to work with, no rain is expected.

LONG TERM [Friday Through Tuesday]. By Friday, a ridge is forecast to build along the northern Gulf Coast, allowing for more dry weather and moderation of temperatures. Expect highs on Friday and Saturday to reach the mid 70s with lows warming to the lower to mid 50s by Saturday morning.

By Sunday, another shortwave will approach from the west, potentially increasing rain chances. However, models generally keep this system weak and any rainfall light. Beyond Sunday, there is significant divergence in the guidance regarding the evolution of the pattern, with differences in the strength of the Atlantic ridge and the evolution of shortwaves in the southern stream.

MARINE. Winds and seas will remain low through the rest of the work week as high pressure remains in control across the waters.

FIRE WEATHER. Surface High pressure will be moving east of the region tomorrow. RH values will begin to increase on Wednesday with the minimum RH forecasted to be in the low to mid 40s. Winds will continue to be light, and the light winds will help result in low dispersion values Wednesday and in the Florida Panhandle for Thursday.

HYDROLOGY. No hydrology concerns are expected through the next 7 days with mostly dry conditions forecast.

SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT.

Spotter activation is not requested. However, spotters are always encouraged to safely report significant weather conditions when they occur (while following all local, state, and CDC guidelines) by calling the office or tweeting us @NWSTallahassee.
