Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tallahassee FL 129 AM EDT Mon Sep 27 2021

AVIATION. [Through 06Z Tuesday]

VFR conditions are expected.

PREV DISCUSSION [838 PM EDT].

NEAR TERM [Through Monday].

Yet another nice fair weather day is in store for tomorrow, how did we get so lucky? The slight warming trend continues as daytime highs push into the upper 80s region-wide tomorrow, along with a slight moistening of the atmosphere as the air mass over the region continues to mix in Gulf/Atlantic maritime air. Otherwise, we'll continue to remain dry with fair weather cumulus over the region throughout the afternoon hours. Expect overnight lows to be in the low to mid 60s.

SHORT TERM [Monday Night Through Tuesday Night].

Fair weather continues with the tri-state area under the influence of deep layer ridging w/northwest flow aloft that becomes easterly near the surface with high pressure centered over the mid-Atlantic states. Any isolated showers should be confined to the gulf waters with dry weather in store. A weak pressure gradient will promote sea-breezes each day with temperatures near average.

LONG TERM [Wednesday Through Sunday].

Continued fair weather is expected through at least Sunday prior to the approach of a weak cold front early next week. The low to mid-level ridge shifts off the southeast US coast on Friday, with the upper-level ridge continuing to remain in place into the first half of the weekend. Expect an increase in low-level moisture and some humidity beginning on Friday and continuing into the weekend. But it should remain mainly dry with subsidence aloft, except for isolated diurnal showers where more robust sea-breeze convergence sets up, mainly south of I-10. Temperatures are forecast to be within a couple degrees of normal.

MARINE.

Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots through Wednesday. A backdoor frontal passage will back winds to a more easterly direction and increase them to 10 to 15 knots on Thursday and Friday. Seas of 1 to 2 feet through the period, possibly approaching 3 feet beyond 20 Nautical Miles on Thursday and Friday. A shower or brief thunderstorm is possible through the period.

FIRE WEATHER.

Low dispersions are expected across the area on Monday due to very light transport winds. No rainfall is expected, and there no other fire weather concerns.

HYDROLOGY.

The only riverine concerns are along the Suwanee, where gradual rises continue, but the trend is for a lower rate of increase. There is the potential for Rock Bluff to reach minor flood stage, but not until at least Wednesday Night. No significant precip forecast over the next week.

SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT.

Spotter activation is not requested. However, spotters are always encouraged to safely report significant weather conditions when they occur (while following all local, state, and CDC guidelines) by calling the office or tweeting us @NWSTallahassee.
