PREV DISCUSSION. /issued 332 PM CDT Thu Sep 23 2021/

SHORT TERM [Tonight through Saturday] .

Another very pleasant weather day across the area with mild/warm afternoon temperatures, low relative humidity, light winds, and a clear sky all courtesy of the continental airmass in place. The good news is that this airmass is going nowhere fast, with a mean upper trof axis progged to remain across the ERN CONUS through the weekend as an upstream shortwave trof digs in to replace the lifting out upper low over the Great Lakes, with surface high pressure remaining entrenched across the NW Gulf Coast region.

Very good radiational cooling conditions are expected tonight, with low temperatures FRI morning overall poised to be a little cooler than this morning. Highs FRI afternoon will be similar to today, topping out around 80. Some slight moderation begins to take place on SAT with H85 temps progged around 1C warmer, but still looking at highs below seasonal normals in the low to mid 80s.

13

LONG TERM [Sunday through Thursday] .

The ridge of high pressure responsible for the great weather in the short term will shift to the east of our CWA while out in the wild west, an upper level low will cutoff and drift over the pacific coast / desert southwest over the weekend.

Sunday will be the last day of relatively nice weather before the return of precip. As the ridge slips off to the east, onshore flow will return. Though winds will generally be light to moderate through the period, they will fluctuate between SSE and southeasterly. This will allow moisture to creep back into the region and our PoPs to rise. The aforementioned upper level low will slowly weaken as it moves eastward from the beginning to the middle of next week.

Daily max temperatures will generally stay in the mid to upper 80s range while min temps will see a gradual increase from the mid to upper 60s to the lower 70s. Dewpoints will also see a gradual rise as moisture climbs in the lower levels.

Stigger/87

MARINE . A ridge of high pressure will stretch along the Texas coast for the next few days, leading to light east to northeast winds and lows seas. This high will begin to move east on Sunday, allowing a light southeast flow to develop.
