PREV DISCUSSION. /issued 326 PM CST Tue Nov 30 2021/

SHORT TERM (Tonight through Thursday night) .

High pressure has shifted east of the region today beginning a gradual warming and moistening trend that will last into the end of the week.

Aloft a general west flow is in place that will keep a relative dry air mass moving through into Thursday.

During the short term, temperatures will remain slightly warmer than climo normals, but no precipitation is anticipated. The main issue will be fog development during the mornings. Areas of fog are likely and some dense fog development is possible.

LONG TERM (Friday through Tuesday) .

After a few dry and pleasant days, an unsettled, progressive pattern looks to be setting up as we move into the long term period. Apart from a isolated shower or two later in the day, Friday looks to continue the dry pattern from the earlier part of the week. However, rain chances return by early Saturday, as a shortwave moves out of Mexico and across the Ark-La-Tex. It looks like this disturbance will bring scattered showers beginning early Saturday morning, with convection likely tapering off through the afternoon as the disturbance moves off to the east. On its heels, a larger mid- latitude trof will send a cold front through the region late Saturday. With enough moisture leftover from the earlier shortwave, this front should be able to bring a few more showers to the region late Saturday. This boundary should be able to sweep most of the residual moisture out of the region, so rain chances look like they will decrease again Sunday into the first part of the new week. Temps will also fall just slightly behind this boundary, with highs in the mid-70s Friday and Saturday falling into the mid 60s to low 70s Sunday and Monday.

As we head into the new week the progressive pattern continues as another cold front sweeps through the region early Monday. This frontal passage looks like it will not be accompanied by any precip, and will really only be noticeable in a drop in dewpoints. High pressure behind the front settles overhead Monday afternoon but looks to quickly shift eastward as we head into Tuesday, resulting in a return of onshore flow and in turn a warming/moistening pattern as we move into the mid-week.

17

MARINE . A light onshore flow will remain in place into the weekend. No flags are anticipated. A cold front will move into the coastal waters late in the weekend or early in the coming week. This will increase rain chances and turn the flow offshore.
