. New Long Term .

SHORT TERM. /Issued 1123 PM CDT Fri Oct 15 2021/ /Through Saturday Afternoon/

1034 mb surface high pressure remained centered near the Utah/Colorado border. Refreshing cool and dry air continued to infiltrate the Lone Star State late this evening with 11 pm temperatures already in the 50s and lower 60s. Lows tonight should have no problem falling into the 40s to lower 50s under a clear sky and decreasing north wind.

Saturday should be a glorious Fall day across North and Central Texas with full sun, slightly breezy north winds in the 10 to 15 mph range, and highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

LONG TERM. /NEW/ /Sunday and Beyond/

Return flow will ensue on Sunday as the post-frontal surface ridge shuffles off to our east, allowing a slight increase in afternoon temperatures (a degree or two above Saturday's highs). Warm air advection and weak ridging aloft will create a gradual warming trend during the first half of next week. An upper low will then roll eastward through the Northern and Central Plains on Wednesday. The system will be accompanied by a cold front, which will likely push through the region late Wednesday or Thursday. Moisture will be limited, but there should be just enough to produce isolated showers or storms along the frontal boundary. POPs will remain in the slight chance category for Wednesday night/Thursday and focused along the forecast progression of the front. The front will stall near or just south of the area as a trailing shortwave dives southeast through the Plains, which may produce another brief round of showers across Central Texas on Friday. Nice weather should follow next weekend as the upper level system exits to the east and high pressure once again becomes established across the region.

AVIATION. /Issued 1123 PM CDT Fri Oct 15 2021/ /06Z TAFs/

No aviation weather concerns across North and Central Texas through Saturday evening with a clear sky and a north wind between 8 and 14 knots.
