SYNOPSIS. High pressure will remain the dominant feature through next weekend.

NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM THIS MORNING/. Radiational cooling will continue through the rest of the night with clear sky and light winds. Temperatures are on track to lower to the upper 50s to around 60 degrees for the majority of the forecast area.

SHORT TERM /6 AM THIS MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY/. Monday through Wednesday: High pressure and deep dry air (precipitable water values around an inch) will prevail across the forecast through through mid week. Highs will start off in the mid 80s on Monday then gradually climb to the upper 80s and low 90s by Wednesday. Lows will remain quite comfortable with low to mid 60s each night.

LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/. High pressure will weaken across the region Wednesday night and Thursday. Unlike with yesterday's forecast, model guidance has backed off significantly regarding the potential backdoor cold front late in the week. The ECMWF (26/12z) Friday and Friday night, while the GFS (26/12z) keeps it north of the area altogether. With that in mind, the forecast now features warmer temperatures in the late week and beginning of the weekend period. Other than a small area of isolated showers and thunderstorms along the southeast South Carolina coast on Friday, the forecast is dry through the long term period.

AVIATION /06Z MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/. VFR conditions will continue through 06Z Tuesday.

Extended Aviation Outlook: VFR conditions will prevail.

MARINE. Tonight: There are no concerns. East to southeast winds will become fairly light overnight with a weak land breeze potentially shifting nearshore winds to the west and northwest. Seas will average 1-2 ft nearshore waters with 2-3 ft offshore waters.

Monday through Friday: Overall, conditions should remain pretty quiet across the local waters through much of the upcoming week. Wind speeds should top out in the 10-15 knot range, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours. Seas will mostly be in the 2-4 ft range through Thursday, then could steadily rise through Friday as swell energy arrives from distant Hurricane Sam. Small Craft Advisories could be needed as we head into the weekend, primarily for the outer Georgia waters.
