SYNOPSIS
A few upper-level disturbances will bring showers and gusty winds to mainly northern Nevada Monday and Wednesday.
Otherwise, quite and dry conditions along with warming temperatures are expected next week.

SHORT TERM
Tonight through Monday night

A northwest flow over the CWA will continue to bring quite and dry conditions tonight under partly cloudy skies. Overnight lows will mostly be in the 30s with light winds. By Monday, an upper- level wave and cold front from the Pacific Northwest will move across northern Nevada. West winds will increase up to 25-35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph for the Ruby Mountains/East Humboldt Range, South Central and Southeastern Elko Counties during the day. The rest of the forecast area will see winds of 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph.

Meanwhile, a combination of moisture and instability will lead to light valley rain showers and thunderstorms along with mountain snow Monday afternoon in and near Northern Elko County.
Accumulations will be light with valley rain totals less than 0.15" and mountain snow totals around an inch or less. Shower activity is expected to taper off along with subsiding winds through the evening. Daytime high temperatures will be in the 50s across northern Nevada and 60s across central Nevada. Overnight lows will cool into the lower 20s and lower 30s under mostly clear skies.

LONG TERM
Tuesday through next Saturday.

Look for a more west to east flow across the area on Tuesday as upper level low pressure sits across the northern Rockies. Winds will be out of the west and northwest with gusts of 30 to 40 mph.
Readings for high temperatures will be few degrees cooler from Monday's highs, with temperatures in the 60s and 70s. Some light, isolated showers are possible in the northern parts of Elko county with little to no accumulation expected. The threat for light showers continues in the overnight with lows in the 20s and 30s.

Models continue to depict another shortwave trough Wednesday moving through the area. This will keep the threat for light showers in the northeast part of the forecast area. Cooler temperatures are expected as a cold front will move through. Highs will be in the 50s and 60s. Northwest winds will again be breezy to windy with gusts to 30 to 40 mph. Quiet conditions are expected to be in the 20s and 30s.

Northwest flow will continue Thursday and Friday with a shortwave staying off to the north. Temperatures are expected to gradually warm with conditions in the 50s and 60s on Thursday, rising to the 60s and 70s by Friday. Lows will be in the 30s and 40s. Winds will be breezy to locally windy each afternoon but will remain below advisory thresholds. Light showers are possible in the northern sections of the forecast area with temperatures in the 70s.

AVIATION
VFR conditions are expected at all terminals over the next 24 hours. Winds will increase Monday W-NW15-25G35KT after 18Z.

HYDROLOGY
Elevated flows continue across many streams, creeks, and rivers throughout northern and central Nevada due to snow melt and recent rainfall. Cooler temperatures are expected the next few days, including freezing temperatures at night at higher elevations, which will likely slow high elevation snow melt. There will be opportunities for light rain and higher elevation snow showers across northern Nevada through the first half of the week but hydrologic impact should be minimal as wetting rains are not expected.

The Bruneau River is currently in action stage and will likely remain in action stage for the next several days.

The Humboldt River at Battle Mountain is currently in minor flood stage and is forecast to gradually rise in the coming days, remaining in minor flood stage.

The Humboldt River at Comus is currently in minor flood stage and is forecast to gradually rise in the coming days, remaining in minor flood stage.

The Owyhee River near Wildhorse is currently in action stage and is forecast to gradually fall over the next several days, remaining in action stage.

The Owyhee River near Mountain City is currently in minor flood stage. The river is forecast to gradually fall below minor flood stage late this week.

Wildhorse Dam is expected to slowly fall over the next several days, remaining in action stage.

The Mary's River near Deeth is currently in action stage and is forecast to slowly recede over the next several days.
