Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Green Bay WI 1047 PM CDT Mon Sep 27 2021

Updated aviation portion for 06Z TAF issuance

SHORT TERM. Tonight and Tuesday Issued at 221 PM CDT Mon Sep 27 2021

Fairly quiet weather is in store for the short term period as high pressure dominates the region behind the weak front that crossed the region this morning. Light easterly flow near the lakeshore will keep temperatures cooler, as well as pushing some lake clouds into the region, although these clouds will gradually diminish into the evening hours.

Tonight, winds will slacken off considerably under clear skies. This will allow for some patchy fog to develop across portions of the area, from central to north-central Wisconsin. Low temperatures tonight will head back to the lower 40s to upper 30s. The light winds and clear skies may also lead to a few spots dropping into the middle 30s.

Tuesday will see a continuation of high pressure conditions in the area, with sunny skies and moderate temperatures. Bumped temps up a little as clear skies and light winds should allow surface temperatures to lean towards the warmer guidance. Expect highs to be mainly in the 70s.

LONG TERM. Tuesday Night Through Monday Issued at 221 PM CDT Mon Sep 27 2021

Upper level ridging will provide quiet weather for much of the work week, with well above normal temperatures expected through the forecast period. The next chance for precipitation will be sometime late in the week and into the weekend as a low pressure system runs into the ridge in place across the Great Lakes. Unfortunately the model solutions are not much clearer this run than they have been the last few days as there continues to be significant timing and precipitation amount differences between the various NWP models during this time period. Therefore, will again keep the NBM for these periods given the model uncertainty. Dry weather and cooler temperatures will likely follow this system as surface winds turn northerly, which appears to be on Monday at the latest.

AVIATION. for 06Z TAF Issuance Issued at 1047 PM CDT Mon Sep 27 2021

Areas of ground fog and IFR conditions are possible between 09z and 13z later tonight, especially north of a Iron Mountain to Wausau line. There could also be areas of ground fog late Tuesday night through early Wednesday.

Outside of any late night and early morning ground fog, mostly clear skies, light surface winds and excellent visibility are expected through at least the middle of the week.

GRB WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES. Beach Hazards Statement until 4 AM CDT Tuesday for WIZ050.
