at 1117 am cdt, doppler radar indicated an area of Thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots and frequent cloud to water lightning. This area of Thunderstorms was located along a line extending from 18 nm west of the western lake superior buoy to 19 nm north of oak island to 10 nm northwest of devils island, moving southeast at 15 knots.
locations impacted include... Rocky island, ironwood island, raspberry island, stockton island, oak island, devils island, cat island, manitou island, south twin island, north twin island, york island, otter island, apostle islands national lake shore, sand bay, outer island, and sand island.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
mariners can expect gusty winds up to 33 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
