Synopsis - Area of high pressure remains in control over the gulf waters. A tight pressure gradient over the region has resulted in gusty easterly winds and a small craft advisory is now in effect for this evening and into Sunday. Small craft should still exercise caution early today as periods of breezy conditions and choppy seas on the waters are anticipated through the weekend. Winds decrease a bit early to mid next week with the afternoon sea breeze returns.

Gusty easterly winds prevail through most of the day with some terminals actually experiencing an slight increase during the evening hours. Some locations could get gusts near 30 knots. Current guidance suggests a decrease in speeds towards the end of the period, except for PIE. Otherwise, partly clear skies are anticipated wit no other concerns.

Issued at 715 PM EDT Fri Apr 26 2024 Fairly typical late April weather across the region with high pressure surface and aloft over the Florida peninsula, which will hold over the area through Monday. The large scale subsidence associated with the ridge will continue to create mostly clear skies and temperatures several degrees above normal. A weak progressive U/L trough will ride across the southeast U.S. and Florida on Tuesday, however dry conditions will continue. The U/L ridge will build back over the forecast area in the wake of the trough on Wednesday and will persist through the remainder of the week.
