Discussion
Currently
Under mostly clear to partly cloudy skies and light east winds,
temperatures are averaging in the lower 80s along the florida
keys. Meanwhile, local radars are showing an increase of shower
and occasional thunderstorm activity in our region. Surface wise,
a western atlantic ridge axis is aligned across the south central
portion of sunshine state, and well into the gulf of mexico. On
our marine district, winds are mainly east near 10 knots except
slightly higher on the straits of florida.

Short term (today through Wednesday night)
the semi-permanent western atlantic ridge axis lying across the
central portion of the sunshine state will slowly erode by
Wednesday night. This will result in a light to gentle easterly
flow up to around 700 mb, with some backing expected on Tuesday
afternoon and into Wednesday. The combination of ample low level
moisture, little if any convective inhibition and a fairly light
flow, mesoscale forcing in the form of wet cloud line genesis and
cells and outflow boundaries emanating off south florida and
andros island will prompt low chance pops to retained through the
period.

Long term (Thursday through Sunday)
the main large scale change will be the persistent western
atlantic ridge axis lifting northward and strengthening across the
gulf coast and extreme southeast united states. With that, our
region will lie on the southern periphery of the deep tropospheric
ridge resulting in a well developed easterly flow. However, with
no pronounced low level undulations expected, enough low level
moisture will allow mesoscale forcing during the day time and
early evening hours along with cells developing on the very warm
coastal waters surrounding the island chain. Subsequently, low
chance pops which are typical for this time of year will be
maintained. See no reason to stray from highs near 90 and
overnight lows generally in the lower 80s.

Marine
Light to gentle winds will persist on the coastal waters with
gentle to moderate winds on the straits of florida through
Tuesday, before slackening into the light range for the balance of
this week. But as usual, winds and seas will be higher near
stronger showers, thunderstorms, outflow boundaries and possible
waterspouts.

Aviation
Vfr conditions expected at the island terminals. There will be
a seasonable low chance for brief subVFR conditions due to passing
showers and a rare thunderstorm. Surface winds will be out of the
east to east southeast at 10 knots or less.

Climate
In 1963, the daily record low temperature of 69 degrees was
recorded in key west. Temperature records date back to 1872.

I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
