DISCUSSION
Issued at 1054 AM EDT Fri Apr 19 2024 Subtle changes were sampled in this morning's 12z sounding at KEY, indicative of a evolving (albeit very slowly) pattern for the Florida Keys. The low-level temperature inversion that has been based around 900 mb has lifted to around the 850 mb isobaric surface. The profile has moistened below this capping inversion, and 0-3 km winds are now displaying modest veering with height.
Light, northeasterly surface winds will be supportive of a potential broken cloud line today, which will be monitored. Our in-house waterspout index reflects this, coming in at 6% for the 12z, a bit higher than climatology for this time of year.
Temperatures will nudge up a few more degrees, topping out in the mid 80s. Outside of removal of transitional wording for afternoon slackened late morning and afternoon wind speeds, no changes required at this time.
MARINE
