New UPDATE
UPDATE
Issued at 806 PM EDT Mon Apr 22 2024
Quiet conditions in place this evening as dry air continues to advect into the area. Northerly winds will veer to the northeast overnight as high pressure drifts across the Southeast with cool overnight lows falling into the upper 40s and 50s across most of the area, though low 60s will be possible for coastal areas.
The forecast remains in good shape with no changes planned this evening.
DISCUSSION
A near-zonal flow aloft has taken hold over the region as troughing passes to our north. At the surface, a cold front is moving over south Florida, with some lingering cloudiness continuing to clear out. High pressure will build over the southeast through the rest of the day, ushering in a relatively cooler and drier air mass. This high remains over the region through mid-week before shifting eastward through the end of the week. The next several days will feature warming temperatures but continued lower humidity and this pattern really holds into the weekend, though moisture does increase a bit during this time. Rain chances remain near zero with really no impacts expected weather-wise during the next week.
AVIATION
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 657 PM EDT Mon Apr 22 2024
Northerly winds this evening will become northeasterly overnight into Tuesday morning, though winds will shift onshore by the afternoon at coastal sites as the sea breeze moves inland.
Otherwise, VFR conditions will remain in place throughout the TAF period as high pressure remains in control.
MARINE
North to northeast winds around 15 to 20 knots will continue through tonight before diminishing some tomorrow. Through the rest of the week, we will see east to southeast winds each day that turn onshore with the sea breeze. No further headlines are expected.
FIRE WEATHER
High pressure and drier air will remain in place through the next several days, with critically low relative humidity values likely for a large portion of the region each day. Lighter winds will preclude the need for any Red Flag Warnings.
