New UPDATE, AVIATION
UPDATE
Issued at 800 PM EDT Thu Mar 28 2024
Existing forecast on track requiring no changes. High pressure continues building into the area, with dry air advection into the peninsula evident in local obs trends. Overnight lows around 10-15 degrees cooler expected tonight under clear skies and continued northerly winds... in the upper 40s to lower 50s north of I-4, and mid to upper 50s southward.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 123 PM EDT Thu Mar 28 2024
Any precipitation activity from earlier in the day has moved out of the area as a cold front continues to depart as it moves southeastward towards the Bahamas by this evening. Quick pressure rises combined with diurnal mixing and cool advection in the wake of the frontal boundary has led to breezy northwesterly winds across the region today but winds will gradually ease by tonight as the pressure gradient relaxes with high pressure building in from the north. Clearing skies combined with rapidly falling dewpoints and northerly winds overnight will support much cooler overnight lows with temperatures falling into the 40s across the Nature Coast and 50s for the remainder of the region tonight.
High pressure will remain in control late week and into the weekend with dry weather and a warming trend expected as this feature slides further offshore into the Southwest Atlantic with the associated ridge axis becoming established across the central FL peninsula.
While highs on Friday are generally expected to be slightly below normal for most locations, highs return to normal values on Saturday and rise to above normal by Sunday but overall fantastic weather is expected this upcoming weekend with humidity levels remaining comfortable. Temperatures rise further into the new week with Tuesday expected to be the warmest day for most locations before temperatures start to trend downward by mid to late week as the next cold front approaches the area and brings an increase in clouds and rain chances. Highest rain chances look to be on Wednesday with showers and thunderstorms as a low pressure system moves across the Northeastern States and drives the frontal boundary through the region, though drier conditions appear to return by the end of the forecast period as high pressure builds back into the area.
AVIATION
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 725 PM EDT Thu Mar 28 2024
Occasional gusty N-NW flow continues this evening before decreasing, with gusts diminishing overnight as high pressure builds into the area. Winds shift N-NE Friday morning before northern coastal terminals develop onshore component during afternoon with the sea breeze, then return to N-NE late evening.
MARINE
Issued at 123 PM EDT Thu Mar 28 2024
Small Craft Advisory conditions will remain in place through Friday morning as gusty northwesterly winds have developed in the wake of a cold front. Winds and seas will subside throughout the day on Friday as high pressure builds in. Improving marine conditions then continues through the upcoming weekend as high pressure remains in control with no additional headlines expected. By next week, winds and seas gradually increase ahead of the next cold front that is expected to arrive by next Wednesday with winds becoming southwesterly by the middle of the week.
FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 123 PM EDT Thu Mar 28 2024
High pressure brings much drier air into the region with relative humidity values expected to fall below critical levels late week and into the weekend, though wind speeds are expected to remain below critical levels so no red flag conditions are anticipated at this time. Humidity values will then gradually improve by late weekend and into next week as southerly flow develops and brings deeper moisture into the region.
