UPDATE
Issued at 940 AM CDT Thu Mar 28 2024
High pressure centered over the region this morning is yielding clear skies, light winds and temperatures on their way to the lower 70s by this afternoon. Hard to improve on that. No changes to the inherited forecast this morning.

SHORT TERM
(Today through Saturday night)
Issued at 250 AM CDT Thu Mar 28 2024
Early morning surface analysis shows high pressure situated from the Midwest to the Gulf Coast, providing light winds and clear skies across the forecast area this morning. Temperatures currently range from the low to mid 40s across inland area, to the upper 40s to low 50s closer to the coast, with further cooling expected before sunrise.
Today, high pressure overhead will result in a near picture perfect day across the region, with highs expected to top out in the low to mid 70s amid sunny skies and light northerly winds.
High pressure will then begin to shift east as we move into the overnight hours, allowing winds to turn back to the south before sunrise tomorrow. This will induce a slow warming and moistening trend as we head into the weekend. Highs tomorrow will top out in the mid to upper 70s, while Sat will be just a tad warmer in the upper 70s to low 80s. Overnight, the warming trend will really become noticeable, with lows in the mid 40s to mid 50s tomorrow expected to rebound into the low to mid 60s by Sat night. Moisture return will also allow dewpoints/humidity to gradually increase through the next few days however, no precip is anticipated.

LONG TERM
(Sunday through Thursday)
Issued at 250 AM CDT Thu Mar 28 2024
Easter Sunday continues to look promising with no precipitation expected, although mostly cloudy skies and breezy southerly winds will be highly likely. Low temperatures near 60 across Central Louisiana to mid 60s across Southeast Texas.
Monday and Tuesday, expecting west to southwest flow aloft due to an upper level trough over the Western U.S. The trough expected to slowly approach the area with increased moisture and some lift.
Blended guidance showing 20-40% chances of showers and isolated thunderstorms north of I-10 by Tuesday, mainly ahead and along the cold frontal passage. Warmer temperatures expected Monday with lows in the mid to upper 60s, and highs in the mid to upper 80s, and lows Tuesday morning in the mid to upper 60s.
For Tuesday Night through Thursday, cooler temperatures expected behind the cold front. Lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s and highs in the lower to mid 70s.
